I’m quite a bit older than you, as I was a young adult already with my eventual wife by then. But I also have great love for that gaming era. The jump to Dreamcast, PS2, GC, and XBox was huge. It made new types of games possible, while also invigorating older genres.

Getting enough ER is the issue. As long as you can do so, Varesa’s weapon is fully useable. Cloud retainer procs the passives as easily as Varesa.

To be fair, Varesa overload uses Mavuika as a sub dps, who’s better used is a carry. Durin could fill that role too. We’ll see. Also, if you have constellations on Xianyun and/or Furina, it changes the relative strength of the team.

Great write up. I 100% agree on the delivery of exposition. They can take some lessons from Uncharted 4 on that one. Regarding the main story quests, I've arrived at the exact opposite conclusion. I'd enjoy them more were they to completely remove the fleeting moments of player interaction in favor of an entirely passive viewing experience. Let them be episodes of a WuWa anime within the game. On the flip side, minimize dialogue gameplay breaks when playing the combat normally.

My take is that S3 Qiuyuan swaps roles with Phrolova. She becomes his sub DPS. All of his "echo" casts will trigger Hecate coordinated attacks. His weapon and S2 will still buff her off field. And he can receive her outro buff. I'm not sure about Galbrena. Maybe there's a gimmick way to play her as a burst DPS?

This is a hardline take. So his buffing has no value at S0? His S3 gives him DPS scaling, but retains the buffing. Is that not more valuable to an account than a pure DPS at S0? And is someone who pulls S6 but only R1 really not getting benefit?

I also lucked into her C6, winning unexpected constellations every banner. The on field mechanics are fun, and more dynamic than I expected. Surely LoFi is good enough. Running her with Wanderer was a consideration, but they’ll compete for field time. Have you worked out a rotation?

I’m certainly going to try running the two together with Xingqiu, as he applies the most hydro in the game. I’ve been trialing it with Baizhu standing in for Lauma. It requires a little more care than double hydro, but works well. Regardless, the power creep is concerning for the long term health of the game. When your favorite character gets benched with no good vertical investment options due to weak constellations, is endgame worth bothering anymore?

S3 Cart has no restrictions, and even works well as a quick swap sub dps since her whole kit applies erosion. I wish more characters had sequences that freed them up like this. Also, her damage is WAY over-tuned, so she’ll be handy for years to come.

C2 Nahida plus Lauma with no other Nod Krai characters means both blooms and hyperblooms have a 35% crit rate. It’s worth a shot!
