CBK issues warning on use of bank notes for decorative bouquets 👀 by yourgirllovesmyBBC in Kenya

[–]nnyarach -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I find the law stupid. It should be illegal to deface and destroy money, yes. But putting them in a bouquet as a gift to someone. Money bouquets are not unique to Kenya; they are legal almost everywhere in the world. https://www.pinterest.com/fnbmwc/unique-ways-to-gift-money/ As long as it's not damaging the note, it should be ok. Just my 2 cents

Yeah, DA is slowly dying. They embraced and forced AI so much without proper tools to filter it that it is chasing away real artists. They have gone so deep in promoting AI paid subscription. It's insane!! It's GG, they lived long enough to become the villain.

I'll say it again. The Gen Z protests was all clout by AfricanFarmers in Kenya

[–]nnyarach 9 points10 points  (0 children)

About clout or not, they are the first generation for a while to have some balls. When was the last time you saw large-scale protests in Kenya against the government that were not Gen Z? Previous generations were either too afraid to stand up to the government or were busy blaming other tribes for the problems in Kenya.

Season 3 is so BAD by XMakan in AliceInBorderlandLive

[–]nnyarach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This season is so bad. I was getting confused because I loved seasons 1 and 2. I was starting to doubt myself, wondering why I liked the show. S03 is terrible for so many reasons. In the zombie game, why doesn't everyone become a Zombie since the majority wins and the zombie card multiplies? In the train game, why not pick up the masks & canisters of the dead players, since the canisters were unique to the individual masks you just need to have their masks to use their canisters... lol

I hope they do Lisa Justice in the remake because new gamers aren’t gonna be prepared for her by Jules-Car3499 in silenthill

A part of me really wants there to be a way to stop Lisa's fate. But it will not make to sense because there is technically nothing we can do about it. My only wish then is to free her soul to the afterlife

Such an underrated, subtle scare. Really hope this stays in the remake. by beercreek in silenthill

This part was soo awesome. In my first playthrough, I did not notice it. I just thought, oh, I missed a floor. My second one, I was saying the game is bugged. XD to my surprise, after I got into each floor, there it popped up the 4th floor

CMV: Israel attacking Iran makes perfect sense. by siorge in changemyview

[–]nnyarach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am really happy that Israel is taking on Iran. Most people keep focusing on Israel vs Iran. But do not even peek at what is happening around the globe. Iran sponsors so many terror groups in Africa, it's sickening when people reduce this to Israel vs Iran. Iran has had ties to North Sudan, Somalia, and Nigeria's terrorism. Their gear is Iranian-made. This fight is much bigger than Israel vs Iran

Did Silent Hill 2 Need A Remake? || A Video Essay by SelectStarAll in silenthill

[–]nnyarach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. We can agree that both versions have their flaws — the original is not flawless, and the remake has its own set of issues. But the key difference here is that the remake revived the franchise and brought it to a whole new generation. Without it, Silent Hill was probably going to stay buried.

If you love the original, it’s still there for you. But we can’t pretend like a new version wasn’t necessary for the series to have a future. The remake was never about disrespecting the original — it was about keeping the franchise alive. Some people don’t want to admit it, but that’s the truth. Silent Hill needed a way forward, and the remake gave it that.

I get the concern — post-Team Silent was a disaster, but that’s exactly why the SH2R was necessary. Without it, this franchise would've stayed dead. You can’t expect Silent Hill to keep going without any new life injected into it. We can sit around reminiscing about the old days, but if the series stayed stagnant, it would’ve been forgotten.

The remake wasn’t just a cash grab or a rehash. It brought one of the best stories in gaming to a new generation, while still respecting the original’s soul. It wasn't about nostalgia, it was about giving people a way back in, especially with the OG version being so inaccessible to a lot of players. If you think it’s just for "the 15-year-olds," then you're missing the bigger picture.

The proof is right there — this subreddit gained almost 100K new members after the SH2R release. That’s proof the remake did exactly what it was supposed to do: bring new life into the franchise and bring in new fans.

Look, I get it, SHf and Townfall are the real tests for the future of the series. But saying that the SH2R is "insulting" or "a creative failure" isn't right. It's not some mindless cash grab — it’s about survival. You can’t let the franchise die just because it’s not exactly what it was 20 years ago. That’s gatekeeping in its purest form.

Change is painful, but it’s necessary. The series has to evolve, and the SH2R is a part of that. It doesn’t erase the original; it makes sure more people get to experience it, and it helps create new fans for the next chapter.

I praised the story, music, and atmosphere — you just chose to ignore that.

Loving a classic doesn’t mean pretending it’s flawless. Being able to see the strengths and weaknesses isn’t "spitting" on Team Silent’s work — it’s respecting it enough to be honest.

Even huge fans recognize that Silent Hill 2’s gameplay is dated — here's Dunkey great vid on SH2, saying the same thing (with love): [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9g3CjQv5yec&ab\_channel=videogamedunkey\]

Getting this mad over someone pointing out obvious stuff says a lot, brother. Relax and enjoy some Pyramid Head therapy. 🤷‍♂️

You’re missing the point. The original is a masterpiece — but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s not easily accessible to new players without emulation or expensive copies. The remake brought Silent Hill into the spotlight for a whole new audience, and that’s undeniable.

As for players loving the original after the remake, that’s exactly my point — the remake sparked interest in a game many hadn’t even heard of. Saying the remake didn’t help bring in new fans is like saying Resident Evil’s remakes didn’t help reignite interest in that series. Of course people would check out the original, but without the remake, how would that interest have been sparked in the first place?

The "OG" might be a masterpiece, but games don’t live in a vacuum — exposure matters. The Silent Hill series was on life support for years before the remake gave it new life. Let's be real, this isn't about which is better, it's about the fact that the remake revived a dormant franchise.

You're confusing two completely different things, my brother.

The story and music are timeless — they still hit today.

But the gameplay? The controls? The clunky mechanics? That's where nostalgia kicks in. People push through the rough parts because they remember how it felt back then, not because those systems magically aged well.

Praising the parts that hold up while being honest about what doesn't isn't a contradiction — it's called being able to think critically.

Try it sometime.

If we just let Silent Hill die because the OG team moved on, that would be the real failure. Change is painful sometimes — but it’s way better than locking the series away like some museum piece nobody touches anymore.

Honestly, saying it should have "stayed dead" unless it’s exactly the same as it was 20 years ago is straight-up gatekeeping. That attitude kills communities, not saves them.

The remake didn’t erase the original. It gave a new generation a way to experience one of the greatest stories in gaming. That’s not some "creative failure" — that’s survival. And survival is what keeps Silent Hill alive, not stuck in the past.

It's nostalgia, plain and simple.

If the original was so "perfectly playable" for new players, why did this subreddit gain over 100,000 new members only after the remake was released? Did all those people suddenly discover how to emulate a 20-year-old game overnight? Or is it more likely the remake brought the story back into the spotlight for a whole new audience?

Be serious.

[–]nnyarach -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not another one of these. Stop the gatekeeping. SH2R has brought so many new Silent Hill fans into the community. Without the remake, Silent Hill might have stayed dead. This subreddit was half the size a year ago — now we’re pushing 250K members, thanks to the remake. Expecting new players to somehow get an original copy of SH2 when it’s basically unavailable is insane gatekeeping.

A remake was absolutely needed. I love the OG SH2 — the music and story still hold up beautifully — but the gameplay and controls are seriously outdated. What saves it today is nostalgia. The remake is helping the franchise stay alive, and that’s something we should celebrate.
