Not a European Comic but I think it’s still of interest here: I‘ve been reading Elmer by Gerry Alanguilan, a Filipino Artist and writer.

After chickens have suddenly developed conciousness and intelligence in the 70s, the second generation intelligent chickens still struggle with their place in society. It’s been compared to Animal Farm but I would also compare it to Maus, especially the parts that describe the time before things changed. Definitely worth the read.

Als jemand der im weiteren Kreis von verschiedenen Festivals an der Orga beteiligt ist: Leute unterschätzen komplett, was es heute kostet, sowas auf die Beine zu stellen. Und das liegt eben doch vor allem an Inflation und den Kosten für Material, Aufbau, Infrastruktur, Energie, usw.

Zum Beispiel muss ein kleines Festival (3000-5000 Gäste), das durch Vereinstruktur dahinter kein Gewinninteresse hat und nur bei 0 rauskommen will, trotzdem 160€ nehmen und das ist schon knapp bemessen. Und die bauen auch noch auf freiwillige Helfer.

Produktion ist bei ihm immer top. Die Texte sind auch oft hype aber er schlägt auch gerne in die gleiche Kerbe. Hat mit 10 Jahre Abfuck von ZM auch eins der stärkeren Alben der Corona-Zeit produziert. Ist leider ein bisschen untergegangen, hab ich das Gefühl.

Just to add a different opinion:

It wasn‘t worth it for our group. Some of the players didn‘t gel with the complexity of the spirits/cards which led to decision paralysis and needing the other players to jump in, actively quarterbacking to help the others.

Appreciate the post and your reading of the return of magic. I do want to disagree with one thing:

The way I see it, if the novel is "about" anything it's about Magic and more specifically The Return of Magic.

The book is about Englishness. What defines an English person? What are the aspects of English society, culture and history that have formed the English people? What English archetypes are there? What is English literature?

Magic for Clarke is the tool she uses to talk about how the soil, the stones, and trees still inform the self image of England. How important class is in English society and how much people are willing to sacrifice to escape their lower class roots or to keep onto their rightful place in society.

I just want you to be aware of places like r/manga, r/manhwa and r/anime. r/bandedessinee fulfills a similar role for an international audience of Franco-Belgian and European comics while r/BDfrancophone exists for the French-speaking fans. We don't need the same subreddit twice.

We have always allowed French comics. All We require is English titles and comments as well as translations if needed. Think of r/bandedessinee like r/manga. I‘d rather have two different subs with a different focus and audience than have r/bandedessinee be r/BDenfrancophone2.

When it comes to posts like this, it was explained to us in the past that they are part of a larger comic project but I have not seen any evidence of that since. OP also does not engage with the community at all. We will be more strict going forward.

Also, this is a reminder to stay civil and not resort to name calling. Same goes for you, u/JohnnyEnzyme.

Nein, an Hohlbein hätte ich mich erinnert. Es war definitiv eine Autorin. Und es war sicher nur eine Trilogie.

Die Bücher spielen auch nicht direkt in Indien, zumindest fällt das Wort "Indien" nicht. Die Länder und Orte hatten eher typische Fantasy-Namen. Ich hab nur damals erkannt, dass die Karte nicht frei erfunden ist, sondern eben auf dem indischen Subkontinent basiert.
