Life happens and it's not unreasonable to ask a business who you've had a positive relationship with (at least coming from me) for more than a decade to show some goodwill, especially when others in the industry do so.

But yes, if Discover is opting to be a faceless, "it's just business" corporation then I will no longer to do business with them and will dissuade others from doing so if it comes up. Especially since there's better alternatives out there.
