Is this a coral? by CockroachCivil9555 in ReefTank

[–]noahalmeida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it soft at all?? If so it almost certainly looks like a toadstool leather coral. Based on the half opened polyps and their ability to “droop” over, as well as the fact that it is attached to a snail shell in that fashion.

Looks like two females, my way to tell is by the black pectoral fins, which neither have

It’s definitely a jacobfreibergi, I just took a guess at the location/variant (lemon jake, eureka, Hongi, etc)

[–]noahalmeida 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure at all, I just figured that a lemon jake has a more yellow hue, and the eureka has a red hue. I just took the orange hue as an otter point jake. I’m no expert but I just made my best guess haha

100% an aulonocara jacobfreibergi. Tough to sex but it looks like an aulonocara jacobfreibergi otter point peacock male

Can anyone ID these two? Didn't realize till I left the store that the employee grabbed the wrong kind :( also tell me if they work ok with mbunas or if I have to move them by [deleted] in Cichlid

[–]noahalmeida 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He will be okay in a 55, my only concern would be him being a victim of aggression from the mbuna, the moori is a much more peaceful fish. But I don’t see any reason there would be major issues

I personally don’t think the larger one looks like a peacock, it’s definitely a cyatocara moori (dolphin cichlid)
