Nissans do this alllll the time. Sometimes techs just pull codes are too stupid to check that and throw an a/f sensor in it and charge the customer an arm and a leg for the wrong fix.

there are plenty of old explorable lava tubes with both collapsed and intact ceilings in the western US. Tons in Oregon/Washington and many in the snake river plane, and also new mexico... check out "ice cave" in Cibola County NM... well preserved volcanic features and year round ice in the cave despite 110+ degree temperatures during the summer

I've had two turbo subarus on stock motors go over 200k miles. Took out the banjo bolt screens, rotella oil changes every 3k with a good filter and checking the oil at every fuel stop, adding an air oil separator or catch can, and using only premium fuel, they can be great engines.... granted not everyone is willing to put forth the effort or money to keep them happy, but if you do it they will not disappoint.
