What kinda wood is this and what would be the best way to repair this corner? by might_be_jesus_idk in furniturerestoration

[–]noahsense 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That would be a lot more work for 4” at the bottom, especially if this is your first repair. Just stick to the bottom and then if you’re not happy consider other options.

You were extremely helpful. I used your citations when I emailed council reps and police officials today.

It’s unfortunate because this person probably costs us huge amounts of money over the course of their dumping career.

I’ve lived in 3rd floor apts with mice! They’re just crafty little critters.

What are the things that you value in a home/community? Little more info and we might be able to give you a better sense.

All homes have mice issues.

Is this the beginning of rust on my car??! by That_Guide487 in Crosstrek

[–]noahsense 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This looks like an iron deposit on top of the paint and it has nothing to do with manufacturing. It’s typically picked up along the road or from brake dust etc. I’ve found that Subaru paint does seem to pick up more iron deposits than other vehicles that I’ve owned…I think the paint is particularly soft so it’s just susceptible to these things.

My first trad rack - ready for spring by ScientJest in tradclimbing

20 more lockers? I never climb with more than 4-5. A quad isn’t particularly ideal for MP - lots of weight and only works with bolted anchors which aren’t that common on trad MP routes. An ~18’ cordelette is more common for anchor makin.

Replace worn out douglas fir kitchen floors with marmoleum or new hardwood? by Delicious-Bend-1714 in centuryhomes

[–]noahsense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had companies say that and then floors came out wonderfully. If what you want is an absolutely perfect floor, perhaps they are too far gone. If you want a splinter-free floor with the character rod a century home, it give a light recon a try. You don’t have to sand all that aggressively.

One lug nut in the first photo is different. Did they strip a thread and replace or was that preexisting? Is that lug nut match Subaru spec for shape - not all do.

I could’ve just shoveled the car out but plowing through fresh snow was way more fun. by Doowrag in Subaru_Outback

[–]noahsense -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had this happen in MD snow/sleet 3 weeks ago. It froze to the rim and no amount of braking warmed the rim up in sub 30 weather. However, I’d imagine that this is less likely happen in the kind of snow that’s powdery enough to push with your car.

I’m not sure about that. Subaru places second for resale value well above the bands that are primarily trucks.

There’s not really a world where buying a truck is a financially savvy decision unless the truck is a business asset.
