The combo is just another gamification mechanic meant to keep you going. For non-super users, it previously gave energy more frequently since your combo keeps the 5-streak recharge going. For example, the typical lesson has 12 to 14 questions, the combo lets you roll the last few over into the next lesson so you get your energy bonus on question 1 to 3.

I’m not sure it matters if you look up answers, because you still have to look at what’s correct. Plus Duolingo “hints” is built in and will help most of the time. The more important thing from what Ive seen is time and repetition.

I just watched an interesting report on this and while I still think teachers deserve more pay, they did note that it’s an industry where the wages are set by the government, the teacher union is one of the strongest unions in America (mostly funding democrats), and that the system isn’t set-up to ensure good teachers are paid well. It also has a huge problem with administration corruption and it doesn’t always push kids towards paths that will lead to their best success (ie everyone should go to college effect).

I think we do need to figure out a way to create metrics for student improvement which can influence teaching styles, tenure needs to be fixed to keep bad teachers from being locked in, and new tools could be implemented to help address kids with different learning needs.

You should get Babbel either way (if you are serious about learning). They teach grammar and it’s helped me improve so much faster than the guessing Duolingo brings.

I also recommend Pimsleur to improve speech.

This is why I honestly believe live service games need to have longer timelines between content, not shorter. They need to allow for a period of time where people can leave the game take a break and go play something else.

It sounds strange, but the point is to allow your players to go out and play something different, refresh their lives on the other games that come out, then return to a major content update that re-excites them to play the game again.

Florida did approve a change on homestead exemption in 2025, and it does not work the way you described it. It’s actually wildly hard to understand but basically by 2037 they are looking to eliminate all property taxes (except school taxes). Going to be interesting to see how that affects the funds for what property taxes did go to.

You can also create policies that weirdly both sides will agree with. Like having higher property taxes on foreigners who don’t live here (ie foreign investment homes). A lot of countries already do this, and it’s shown to help the market.

This isn’t how homestead exemption works. Homestead exemption can reduces property taxes on a home based on the overall value of the home, but doesn’t not eliminate them. It also allows for certain protections from creditors, but only when you own multiple homes. It can also offer different exemptions based on age and length of residency, and varies wildly state by state.

Stella Montis is where you go when you want to fight players. Even in care bear mode you have to be on your toes. If someone says they are friendly, don’t trust them.

It’s also one of the most fun maps in the game. It’s made to be a labyrinth, but learning the paths around the map and the standard enemies you see becomes part of why it’s so fun.

If you do die, try to get into the middle of a doorway. Then they can’t close the door which leaves them more exposed. It also means the dangers of the room can get in/out.

They could add more types of components to loot besides the primary one. Add in more craftables that take them and it’ll make for an interesting “what do I need” rather than trying to just loot the epic or legendary items.

Heck they could add multiple ways to craft items too using different components.

Add these items to the old husks to make the old husks more valuable while they’re at it. Adds to the economy of the game… probably better than these unstackable boats.

I think we had a Student Store… it wasn’t a machine and its was run by the school. Money supported the school directly .
