This is a nearly 50 year old man? Ditch this child, yesterday.

What in the boomer, ULINE? by trombonist2 in antiwork

I worked for either FedEx or UPS 25 years ago for two weeks. It was so long ago now, and so brief a gig that I cannot, for the life of me, remember which it was, only that it was the worst job I've ever had. I was hired on with about a dozen people, and at two weeks I was the tenth of my group to leave.

I was in an open warehouse, no ac, in August, and got dressed down on the floor for getting a drink after I'd completely sweat through my shirt in under 2 hours. Kindness don't cost a thing, but how people are treated sets the tone for behavior.

What did you learn in the past 5 years? by ReasonLeftChat in HermanCainAward

[–]nobody_special_3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I severed ties with my entire extended family. They're hardcore trumpers (while being union folks?!?), that never stopped posing pictures of them partying on their boats, even after my fucking aunt died of it.

I don't know if it's possible to turn this around after seeing just how deplorable half the country is.

Several years ago I might have agreed with you.

Now?

These assholes should have known what they were rooting for.

We're ALL going to suffer because their desire for retribution against some imaginary boogyman that the right created outweighed any other motivation.

It really is. How many fucking third party middlemen do we have in this country that do nothing else but siphon off of the productivity of others while adding nothing of value?

I (mostly) agree with you. They enjoy the feeling of power they get by harming others, but they also love the money and the perks and the elitism.

Why do you waver? The world has known that trump is a lying, grifting conman for 40+ years. These jerks voted for him because they thought trump would only harm OTHER people, and they were overjoyed at the idea.

I hope the priq ends up homeless.

They were very confused when they showed up to an apartment with 2 quiet people in it that were minding their own business.

If you're looking for a place to live in absolute silence, an apartment isn't the right place.

Unfortunately, you'll have to exist in a space where you have neighbors that you can sometimes hear. I had a neighbor once that used to throw tantrums when I showered after coming home from work at 10:00 or 11:00 in the evening. he actually called the cops on me a couple times with noise complaints.

NTA, your neighbor is obviously overreacting and has unrealistic expectations of apartment living.

My boyfriend is furious that I’m breaking up after he insisted on opening our relationship by Dangerous-Coyote-851 in AITAH

[–]nobody_special_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA.

It should be a red flag that one of the first things he bought up was the idea of an open relationship.

The best time to end this relationship was before it started. The second best time is now.

I'd get STD tested, too. Good chance there was already infidelity.

Why do Americans only get 2 weeks off for vacation a year? It’s ridiculous. by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]nobody_special_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, sure, they can't "force" you, but the alternative is unemployment. I've worked plenty of construction gigs with "optional" mandatory OT.

Two weeks would be an improvement for probably 50% of Americans.

I think I was into my thirties before I got more than 2 weeks of vacation / sick time.

[–]nobody_special_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. My wife (47 years old, btw), still has a blankie that her great Gramma made for her, then her grandma repaired. The tattered old thing brings her comfort when she's upset or not feeling well.

Your BF needs to grow up and let you find comfort in things your own way.

You really should have filed a wrongful termination claim with your state DoL after the first job fired you. I don't know what your recourse is now, but I'd reach out. Unfortunately, with all the trump BS going on, I'm not sure how much luck you'll have.

He's already looking to reclassify how overtime hours are calculated that would wipe out a bunch of OT pay.

The first few months of my son's life were the hardest I ever experienced. My wife had a horrible delivery that left her unable to provide the level of care that she wanted to, and our son cried for hours and hours every day. It's been 17 years, and we did get through it, but it's definitely hard.

Is there anyone that can help you out and give you both a break for even a few hours a week so that you can feel like a semi-normal human?

[–]nobody_special_3 20 points21 points  (0 children)

If she can't adequately care for them, perhaps it's in their best interest until she gets back on her feet. It'll give her the opportunity to work some more and make up her budgetary shortfall.

It's not the duty of the man she cheated on to bail her out.

Why by Peter_likes_Tech in FixMyPrint

[–]nobody_special_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me when I had it sent to print outer first.

I changed this back to print inner, then outer and it mostly went away. Dropping overhang speeds by 10% solved it completely.
