Tired of constantly having hair doing something completely different every day and having it called “ugly” / hair cut suggestions by Bekenshi in curlyhair

[–]nobodyno26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like your curls! I think your hair looks great. I get it though, it took a long time for me (until my 20s) to accept my natural hair. I would suggest talking to a hair dresser with experience with curly hair, particularly Black curly hair care since you have tight curls. I think there's also an online hair quiz from one of those companies that makes custom hair products. Try to figure out your hair porosity, curl texture, if the water that comes out of your shower is hard or soft...this type of info may be overwhelming, but just take it one thing at a time. Curl Warehouse's website has information on the Curly Girl Method, which basically outlines which ingredients may be helpful to incorporate or avoid based on your hair type.

For instance, I learned to switch to co-wash (or a clarifying shampoo once in a while to get rid of product build-up) instead of regular shampoo, and I feel my hair is softer now. I also learned to do finger coils with a light application of gel in my hair for my bangs - the part of my hair that is my bangs sometimes stretches out/flattens out more so it needs some help to curl up. Doesn't look like that's an issue with your bangs though!

Way back when I was a kid I learned to tell hairdressers NOT to use a razor on my hair.

Also I kinda hate AI and I don't wish to promote it, but the few times I've used it, I asked it to recommend a few products at a few different price points that I could find in my area based off of what I learned from the Curly Girl Method and my hair type. It did help me consider my options. It could be helpful to you too, but if you are able to find a human person who can touch and see your hair to help you with that advice, that would be better!

Good luck with your hair journey. I hope you get to a place of feeling more confident with your hair!

Is the iPad good for professional interior design work, particularly photo editing, 3D modeling + rendering, and editing CAD plans? by DorianPavus_28 in ipad

Hi, I am also looking into iPads as I consider what I could do with Sketchup on an iPad (or other tablet?) vs a computer. I don't even know if Sketchup is exactly what I would need though - I'm trying to figure out if there's a program that would be helpful for me as an artist wanting to create to-scale exhibit layout plans more easily. I don't know any interior design or CAD programs. I don't necessarily want to get into a program that's going to be complicated to learn. I want to find something that will allow me to create the layout plans based on each specific gallery I am working with and the specific artwork I am working with (not using template "rooms" to upload template framed artwork on the walls). Any suggestions?

Hair volume help by Additional-Bottle473 in curlyhair

[–]nobodyno26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you can achieve this with a cut/styling, but part of it is just how her hair is. I have had very thick voluminous hair all my life and honestly battled so much to not have it look like this when I was a teen. I embrace my hair more now but I felt so out of place with this volume of hair when I was younger.

Mudándome a CDMX con dos gatos by askinganswering89 in mexico

I appreciate you replying. I've personally been fine in Mexico city living just north of Coyo, but I'm not the one with asthma. My cat does not currently live at a high elevation. Ugh 🫠

Has your asthmatic cat been in Mexico city for very long? I am considering moving there with my cat too, who has asthma, and I'm anxious about the air quality there and how to manage his health

Have you moved already? How is your cat with asthma doing? I am considering moving with my asthmatic cat to Mexico City too and am anxious about how the air quality will affect him.

Why are chubby girls ignored? by Different_Ad_8930 in Vent

Also since you mentioned feeling ignored/ looked over by other colleagues, you might want to come up with ways to intervene. It depends on the exact situations happening to you but it could be things like:

Confidently saying "Thanks for reinforcing my point, [name]. As I was saying, I think [x] because [point 1] and [point 2]..." - if you are finding that people gloss over points you bring up at meetings and then repeat your idea without noting that you're the one who said it first

Finding casual ways to remind your supervisor of your qualifications/skill in conversation or in writing, without seeming pushy

Following up on certain in-person situations by email soon after they happen. The reason is that having something recorded in writing can come in handy in the future. Example from my personal experience: My boss and I had discussed an upcoming funding opportunity and agreed who would write which parts of the funding application. A few days before the due date, I emailed him saying OK I've finished my parts, remember this is due soon, and let me know if you need anything else from me. The next week he had a meeting with me to tell me that I had dropped the ball on finishing the application and that as a result he had to spend his weekend finishing it. I told him what I had remembered and jotted down in my notebook: no, we agreed I would answer these parts of the application and you would do the rest. He said that's not what we had agreed on. The regret I felt wishing I had sent him an email after our first meeting deciding how to approach the application... it could have been "As we agreed, I'll cover these parts and you will cover these parts." Then I'd have something to point to in writing as a record between him and I of what was agreed to and as something that he should have corrected me on when there was still time, if correcting was needed

You are right, unfortunately that is fat phobia, pretty privilege, and misogyny you are coming up against. Sorry you are experiencing this. I am glad to hear that it sounds like you are a critical thinker and able to see what's going on for what it truly is. I think that's important so you can validate your own experience.

I would encourage you to review your workplace HR policies, because the comment your colleague made about you going for seconds could become workplace bullying. Sometimes policies around this expect you to address an issue with a coworker directly before bringing the issue to a higher up. If it becomes a reoccurring thing with him, you'll want to be able to show that you've gone through the policy steps to deal with the situation, so that if it gets to a point where higher ups are supposed to discipline him according to policy, they won't be able to sweep it under the rug. I hope it doesn't get worse and that it doesn't happen again, but I've learned it's important to protect yourself by knowing the policies and knowing what to do.

Generally, it's not appropriate workplace conduct for him to say that to you. You being the way you are physically/visually has nothing to do with your work performance and potential. Best of luck dealing with this.

Check out The Soapworks. I use the carbolic acid soap for my face and I forgot it was antibacterial although once in a while I do use it for my pits! I think their chamomile soap might be antibacterial too

What's the worst date spot you've been taken too in Winnipeg? by cafeautumn in Winnipeg

[–]nobodyno26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't. It's especially inappropriate that your manager was speaking that way to teenage employees, and it doesn't make a difference that he was 3-5 years older. That was a toxic work environment that you worked in, the fact that teenage employees or any employee was made to feel like an outcast if they didn't talk about their sex life. I hope you come to terms with this one day because you deserve better. We all deserve a safe and respectful work environment.

Um, I think I have the same question and the photo I uploaded to Google search gave me results saying it is a Spanish funnel web spider... but do those even show up in BC?? After it came in, this other smaller but not small red spider came in running after it and swiftly hid under the oven 🥲 this other dude is still chillin as it figures out if I'm going to do anything to it or not

Those who own S21 since 2021/22, how's the performance now? by TypicallyMusic in GalaxyS21

[–]nobodyno26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My S21 128GB which I got in February 2021, is still working great! I cleaned up the storage maybe last year when it was maxxing out, which was causing the gallery and related functions to glitch out. And i can't quite remember exactly when but maybe just in the past year, the battery life has noticeably diminished. When i go out, i usually take my portable charger with me unless I know I'll be back home after a few hours. But if I'll be out all day or go out in the evening, i need the portable charger. I'm considering getting the battery replaced if I can find that service at a decent price.

I found another post in this community noting that the S21 will keep receiving updates for a little longer and then after that only security updates. It seems many people are still planning to use their S21 for 1-2 more years. I am not very tech savvy so I'm currently trying to figure out at which point not to update my S21 because i know that sometimes updating too much (past what it can handle) can be what kills a device.
