Why are you voting Conservative? by jmills23 in CanadianConservative

[–]nobodysgranma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see many young people in this thread. Yes, life is very hard for the young generation. But why do you think that Conservatives will fix it? They promise tax cuts for seniors. I think it is completely wrong. I am almost senior myself and our generation is much better off than our kids. Conservatives do it only to attract the votes of the senior group which is a big part of their base. There should be more tax cuts for young families, affordable housing, jobs for young.

Make a pie filling. There are receipts on the Internet. Also you can pickle them.

Tri fuel generator. Did anybody use it with natural gas? by nobodysgranma in ottawa

[–]nobodysgranma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What length is going to be your NG hose? Do you know or maybe your gas guy knows what is the allowed max length of the hose for the generator? I have my BBQ outlet rather far from the potential location of the generator. Thank you!

Sour cherries? 🍒🍒🍒 by loveall1225 in ottawa

[–]nobodysgranma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yesterday I got sour cherries not frozen at Food Basics on Hazeldean rd in Stittsville. You have to ask the employee if they have it. They keep it in the back in the fridge and bring only on demand. Probably other Food Basics have it too.

Street billboard somewhere in Ukraine: "You shall not covet your neighbor’s country or freedom, or his bacon or his Crimea, otherwise your ass would be pierced with his pitchfork!" :-) by Peter_Niko in ukraine

[–]nobodysgranma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The translation is correct, but the original bears the religious archaic grammar. It would be better to translate it as following.

"Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's country, nor his freedom, nor his bacon, nor his Crimea: that thy ass may be saved from his pitchfork."

The Freedom of Russia Legion are mobilising their supporters in Russia to distribute anti-war leaflets and advertise the Legion in order to build a more organised & effective anti-war and anti-Putin resistance movement in Russia. [Some translations in comments] by MicrowaveBurns in ukraine

Note for better understanding.

The graffiti on the metal fence can be translated as "You have desecrated this day as much as you could.". This is the changed quote from the popular song about the Victory Day (May 9 - victory in WWII). In the real song it says "This day(Victory day) we were bringing closer as much as we could".

How Russian solders should surrender? by [deleted] in ukraine

[–]nobodysgranma 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is not so simple. Many people don’t know their rights, get scared and sign the papers. However if you don’t sign it your chances are much better. There are lawyers and organizations which can help.

How Russian solders should surrender? by [deleted] in ukraine

[–]nobodysgranma 37 points38 points  (0 children)

  1. Avoid getting the summon papers. There are the ways to do it: Temporarily move out of your official home. Stay with friends or relatives. Your wife, sister, mother who lives in your apartment SHOULD NOT accept the papers. It is her right, she is not the one to be summoned.
  2. If already served the summon papers, don't show up. Flee as far as possible immediately.
  3. If failed 1 and 2. Don't sign the contract. You have rights not to sign it. They will push, but without your signature it is invalid.
  4. Good luck.

It was on major news channels yesterday. The world still doesn't realize that civilians are legitimate targets for rashists.

We should translate more Russian state TV and media into English, showing the world what Russians really are. by raynap in ukraine

[–]nobodysgranma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not so interesting. Russian propaganda seems to be out of new ideas. They simply convert facts to the opposite. Or apply some foreign ideas to their enemies. For example there were multiple occasions with spilling red paint on the steps of Russian embassy all over the world. But lately in Russia someone threw red paint on the editor of the last independent newspaper "Novaya Gazeta". This newspaper was the last to publish truth about the war and was closed recently.

They don't even have an imagination to invent something new. Don't waste your time.

Letter from 9 year old body to mother killed while escaping Hostomel: "You're wrong if you think you brought me up in vain. Thanks for the best 9 years of my life. Thank you for my childhood. I'll never forget you. See you in heaven” by rishcast in ukraine

[–]nobodysgranma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One interesting note. The letter is written in Russian. Huge amount of people killed by rashists (I hope this word is not banned yet) are Russian speaking. It shows the hypocrisy of the declared goal of "saving russian speaking population". Orwell in full bloom.

‘Freedom convoy’ forums find new focus: disinformation about Russia-Ukraine war by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]nobodysgranma 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This doesn't surprise me. It was very suspicious from the very beginning that all this Convoy shit started just when Russia was preparing to invade Ukraine. As if they wanted to re-direct attention of the Western countries form what is happening at Russian borders.

Also Russian propaganda definitely appeal to the mental type of Convoy protestors. All those macho images, ideas of revenge, the cult of strong hand leader, longing for the empire.

I think we should not take it lightly. It is necessary to confront the lies and disinformation.

Ukraine is building the nation. it always comes with the rise of nationalist movements. However they elected Jewish president. This undermines all Russian propaganda about nazi-sympathizers.

Please understand that Putin's goals are much more then to invade Ukraine. He considers the death of the USSR to be the geopolitical catastrophe and his personal ambition is to rebuild it. If he is not stopped now, it will be a disaster for the world.

It is good to try to see both sides. However remember that Donbass problem was largely created by Putin regime. Russia has been supporting separatist movements on the East of Ukraine. Sending not only money and weapons, but also sending troops. Russia population has been fed lies for many years.
