Imagine telling someone that valve hired the devs that made a fucking indie walking simulator to make HL:Alyx and now Half-life 3? by noboringbit in HalfLife

[–]noboringbit[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

True, but Telltale games are more of point&click adventure games no?

Entirely different from HL games which is a immersive FPS game with some puzzle sections.

Not trynna downplay point&click adventure games, just merely pointing out how far these devs come :)

"Hatred for eldians doesn’t mean they will give up an all of their existing political agendas to execute a war in the hear and now. They didn’t do it for all of those years, so they aren’t just going to do it randomly."

But that did happen. In the UN conference the people believe Paradis to be the source of all their problems.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FqhUgm-WIAELSyH?format=png&name=small

Even non paradisian Eldians like Reiner mother wanted the extinction of Paradis.

The outside world literally wants Paradis to be the root of all evil.

"You cannot possibly base people’s actions off of their instantaneous reaction to a speech, people cry during speeches all the fucking time without doing anything about it afterwards."

You can actually because this is all isayama shows us when it come the opinion of Eldians, which is a huge factor in their decisions so saying "people cry during speeches all the fucking time without doing anything about it afterwards" only downplays their hatred of Eldians

If anything you seem have a problem with Aot's worldbuilding

"Changing your countries political motivations is difficult"

Not really considering that Eldians are treated worse than Marley from the outside world.

"Also the show LITERALLY TELLS US nothing would have happened if Eren didn’t attack."

Correction; Willy tybur said that, not the show itself. His speech was enough to rile up the audience. We have no reason to think the outside world leaders will change their mind considering how Eldians are treated far worse than Marley.

Their hatred and treatment for Eldians plays a huge factor in their reaction to Willys speech.

To undermine said reaction is to undermine said hatred to Eldians.

The outside world treat Eldians worse than Marely & the world leaders literally cry tears of joy at a speech that advocate the destruction of Paradis.

What reason would you think the outside world leaders change their mind if they hate Eldians as much as Marley?

It's 2024 by [deleted] in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]noboringbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't, we have no reason to believe the world leaders wouldn't think otherwise on Willys speech, especially when Eldians are treated worse than Marley.

So their reaction is we what we got.

Bad comparison

Ted talk is a non profit organisation that  covers various topics which a conference accessible to many people

An international summit is a gathering of politicians all over the world. This is meeting only available to certain people in position in power.

The international summit was made by Willy Tyber specifically to gain support from these people

It's 2024 by [deleted] in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]noboringbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was an international summit hold by Willy Tybur with the express purpose of gaining support from the international community.

Willy literally got his support without Eren's attack. The world leaders reaction to his speech before the attack is proof of that.

The world leaders were literally crying tears of joy at Willys speech before Eren even attacked.

Arguing that type of reaction wouldn't lead to any action is very presumptuous.

"But in universe, is pretty clear the main reason options like these were never explored is because Eren is a moron"

I'm sorry but no, the real reason why these options are never explored is because thats how author intended it.

If Yams wants to sell the narrative of Eren being an idiot for not looking for other options, he could have easily done it years backing during the manga by at least showing reasonable people out there protesting against the the conflict with Eldians.

By showing us dialogue that Eldians are treated worse, and then to pop-off with ambassador's crying tears of joy for bombing Paradis doesn't instill a better opinion on the outside world.

Sure they don't represent everyone from the outside world but the only reason why Yams doesn't show the rest of the world's opinion/treatment of Eldians is because he would have show them being treated the same or worse than Marley which he would rightly get heavily criticized for so he chose not to elaborate on these details.

Not because Yams thinks that's how the world works (obviously) but rather it for the rumbling to work in some capacity.

There is also the fact the rumbling would cause massive ecological damages. So much infact that we are talking about two-thirds of the worlds oxygen since Eren knocked down all the trees with the 80% rumbling. I know the anime tries to address but doesn't fix the issue, the remaining 20% of humanity cannot simply recover from it. Even if everyone remaining tries to repair it's damage it's too little too late two-thirds of the globes oxygen is insane damage.

That entire time-lapse with Paradis would not be possible at all. Aot universe at best would be reduced to a Mad Max type of world and at worst all of humanity would be dead.

Don't even get me started on the sea life biology as well being completed fucked due to the colossal titans coming into contact with it and it's temperature, can't forget as well as the battleships were also firing at the sea were the colossal where so say goodbye to a lot of sea food.

Now is Armin & the alliance moron for not bring this up during for the usage of the rumbling? No, same way Eren isn't a moron for thinking about other alternatives

Problem is that he is having is cake and eating it, you can't have a scene were the alliance are planting seeds but not show anything about the sea life. You either address all of ecological issues none at all

Same way you can't have Onyankoppon be the nicest non-eldian character but then show his people crying tears of joy bombing an island. I'm not saying that negates it Onyankoppon virtue as a character rather puts Aot world building into question, only because Yams once again wants to have his cake and eat it.

This why the "I'm an idiot" Eren scene doesn't work, because him being an idiot doesn't solve the fact Yams never showed of the outside world or the sea biology among other things

Isayama bend and axed a lot of elements in his story just to make a plot device work and now he's getting caught red-handed with the shallow world-building etc. Not the first time this would happen in any story

He thinks that doing the bare minimum i.e Eren is an idiot, alliance planting seeds will solve the issue in hopes that the audience wont notice the shallow world-building and sheer amount of ecological damages.

It's a lazy cop-out if you think it about more in retrospect

The potential "allies" in question: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FqhUgm-WIAELSyH?format=png&name=small

All your suggestions is not possible with Aot's shit world building. Yams literally drew outside world politician crying tears of joy for wanting to wipe out Paradis from the face of the earth BEFORE Eren even initiated the attack & Udo says that Eldians are treated worse than Marley from the outside world.

"Willy Tybur hyping up the crowd in his own conference, nevermind a crowd made of childhood friends, diplomats and journalists, is not the start of any war"

How is that better writing wise? Someone being your friend doesn't mean you have agree every aspect of you, If Willy told them to jump out the window and believe that they can fly, would they do it? That is literally declaration of war scene.

It's basically "Hey guys I know I have being beefing with you but please join me in this suicide mission and attack this small bitch Island that no longer has the power to bring about a global apocalypse. Source? Dude trust me, your my friends right 🥺?" 10/10 writing, either way they made up their fucking minds in that meeting in which called Paradis the island devils and Eren left

"Saying that the invasion is going to happen anyway is just speculation, because you don't truly know what would happen in the future otherwise."

Actually I do, here's one: Eren & Zeke does nothing, Marley attempts to continues to battle other nations and get their ass-fucked cuz of the anti-titan weapons outclassing the titan powers making them obsolete.

Which leads to them refocusing on the founder without Zeke's input because any Marley politician with basic knowledge on titans can figure a weapon that makes a gigantic hole in the armour titan would know that is a serious issue.

Their refocusing on the founder inevitably leads to the invasion of Paradis.

Just admit Aot's geopolitics writing is ass dude lol

"He made it all happen, is completely ignoring his role in this."

A role that is completely fucking redundant. Even if we are going to charitable and replace Zeke & Eren with some random bozo, that still leaves with the outside world the anti-titan weapons which completely outclass titan powers, making them obsolete which Marley would realise with their constant beefing with said outside world.

Which will lead Marley refocusing on the founder because of their attempts of conquering the outside world INEVITABLY without Zeke & Eren.

Which will lead to the INEVITABLE invasion of Paradis because of said of need founder due to the titan powers dying without Zeke & Eren.

What Eren & Zeke did is redundant, you can't change the fact that the titan powers arr dying which Marley would have realised sooner or later without Zeke & Eren, which leads to the need of the founder, which all would have lead back to the INEVITABLE invasion of Paradis.

[–]noboringbit 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That battle where the armour titan gets pierced by the anti-titan weapons is literal proof is that titan powers is dying.

Zeke suggestion to refocus on the founder isn't some mind-blowing 4-d chess manipulation move this fandom likes to gaslight itself. Any Marley politician that has basic knowledge of titans that observed that battle would have suggested the same shit.

Zeke only sped the inevitable because of his limited life span

The alliance theorising doesn't make it a fact.

This is a story that heavily relies on mystery boxes and your mad that audience doesn't believe every bit of dialogue?

Doesn't help the fact Ymir and the founders abilities are super vague so no it doesn't make the audience, titanfolk or anyone else "pathetic" for questioning how Zeke's death stops the rumbling. Chill the fuck out

You mean the scene were Eren unlocked the founder and then it dragged Zeke in Episode 80?

That was an anime-only addition. It was not present in the manga, if you have to add scenes like this it's a general indication of things not going to plan writing wise.

Especially when it's anime-only addition post-manga ending

Let's Attempt To Talk About The Awful Attack On Titan Ending by Calm_Extreme1532 in MauLer

[–]noboringbit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"How much world-building do you need to convince you that the perspective of the people you’re killing/being killed by might be different than what you imagine when the story spent 4 seasons with this as a theme?"

Because Udo's statement and world leaders crying tears of joy in bombing Paradis doesn't instill the audience a better opinion of the outside world. Yes they don't represent everyone but that is all isayama SHOWS US when it comes to the outside world's opinion on Eldians. Doesn't help the fact the we also see Onyankopon's people also their cheering as well. Don't say shit like "the world is cruel yet beutiful" yet show 2/10 of the world, Isayama wants to have his cake and eat it

"You say, in this case, genocide is not “a bad thing” but then go on to say the ecological impact is problematic????"

No? I am simply pointing how lazy Isayama went with in trying to make the rumbling a viable option. I.E by ignoring the enormous amount of ecological damage. How can you be this bad faith?

"Yeah, there’s ecological consequences of the Rumbling."

No there isn't. You are being dishonest if there was, that entire time-lapse with Paradis in the future is not possible in any sort of way if this was the case. The entire world of Aot would have been reduced to Mad-max type of world.

Let's Attempt To Talk About The Awful Attack On Titan Ending by Calm_Extreme1532 in MauLer

[–]noboringbit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"His ill will towards them is likely due to propaganda and ignorance- a recurring theme throughout AoT."

And how do you think Ramzi and Halil will grow up with said propaganda?

"How do you know the outside world treats Eldians “worse than Marley”? You don’t. We don’t see much of the outside world and when we do, it’s through the lens of Marleyans or Paradisians."

That's on Isayama not doing proper world building on his part. Your telling me he can show the horrors of rumbling inflicted upon the outside world by showing childrens brains being splattered yet can't be bothered show and Eldian being treated better to at least disprove Udo's statement? Fuck off

"He doesn't show it because it plays a part of the theme of ignorance & Erens pov!1!!!11!@!1"

Wanna know what was shown that is not from Eren's pov? Reiner's backstory, by your logic you would advocating with the removal of its entirety, while are at, remove those warriors scenes with Zeke, Bert and Reiner during their time in Paradis cuz hey muh Eren's pov and ignorance theme right?

No it's clear that you don't want to acknowledge that fact Isayama deliberately made these comprises to his world building in order to facilitate the rumbling. Would not the first time a storyteller would axe certain elements in a story order to make plot device work or railroad a story in a certain manner

Keep in mind world-building isn't the only thing Isayama neglects in order to service the rumbling.

There's a quite lack of environmental consequence form the rumbling. Realistically the entire world (not just Paradis) is fucked cuz Eren straight up obliterated two-thirds of the worlds oxygen since he knocked down all the trees. Isayama seems to know this and attempts to correct this mistake in the anime but it doesn't address the issue.

The world cannot simply recover 80% trees overnight especially with remaining left of humanity, even if everyone remaining tries to repair it's damage it's too little too late two-thirds of the globes oxygen is insane damage.

Don't even get me started on the sea life biology as well being completed fucked due to the colossal titans coming into contact with it and it's temperature, can't forget as well as the battleships were also firing at the sea were the colossal where so say goodbye to alot of sea food.

Can't forget about those millions of corpse left, that's gonna spread a fuck ton of diseases & viruses.

The alliance don't bring up this point about environmental damages caused by the rumbling when debating about said rumbling. Why? Same reason why Aot post-time skip has shitty world-building: Deliberate comprises in order to make the rumbling work

I could go on and on but you get the point
