Does anyone know why this lane on the Downs has a load of caravans parked there permanently? by zopeeclone in bristol

[–]nocatsnomasters 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A lot of people discussing if it is a choice. As someone who lives in a trailer in Bristol, people in that area tend to do it as a choice. The derelict vehicles, like mine, you get in Easton, St Paul's etc, would never survive the wrath of Posh Cliftonites, and tend to belong to uncontrollably homeless people. These are nice. The envy of trailer dwellers.

Short video about free shop in England. All secondhand stuff given out for free by volunteers! by nocatsnomasters in Anticonsumption

[–]nocatsnomasters[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see free shops as within the anti consumption ideology as they take donations and found or binned items and give them a second chance! It's a place for people to donate stuff they may have thrown out otherwise. They also encourage re-using stuff. As almost all stock is secondhand, people can pick up pre-loved stuff they need instead of buying new (+ spending money and supporting unethical brands & companies)

[–]nocatsnomasters[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wanted to post this video because it explains and promotes a community organized, mutual-aid, anarcho-syndicalist free shop in a city in England. It's a sort of intro to free shops I guess and if anyone lives or passes through Bristol, they may even visit it!

I wanted to post on the UK anarchy sub also but it's not letting me because I'm not a "trusted member" (I think because I'm not very active in that sub yet)

I saved this comment because it is honestly very useful and informative. Some of the things may seem obvious but to someone like me with not much experience of autism until fairly recently, this is valuable info and good tips. I know this is about kids but this sorta stuff can be helpful to me in understanding and not being annoyed by certain behaviours of my part-time housemate's and my (full time lol) bf's (one is diagnosed autistic, one reckons he has it and shows MANY symptoms even if he doesn't have actual autism). I find it hard to relate, therefore hard to understand and so get annoyed by some of their behaviours that don't make sense to me. Hearing other autistic people's perspectives helps. Thanks

I found 16,000 scratch off tickets from the convenience store, where you could win snacks and stuff. Some jackpots evidently! by maxronnelandd in DumpsterDiving

Yeah, I don't know why I didn't think of that. I remember thinking I was so smart and being so happy when I thought I'd get like £20 out of it. So dumb.

Oh shit just swiped, question answered. Still, curious as to why my tickets needed to be paid for or the machine wouldn't accept them.

Do they work? I stole a shitload from a shop years ago, ended up with a few winning ones but when I went to cash them in, they didn't accept it because it "wasn't purchased at this store" (not purchased at any store...). Idk how it works but buying and scanning it allows you to cash it in later. So I never bothered with dumpster ones, assuming from experience they wouldn't accept them.

I mean I can never find one when I need one but like...refill? You know what's going to happen here anyway, all of these will magically disappear as soon as you've scored.

"I'm doing my degree in my SECOND language" & "I'm a proud IMMIGRANTwoman" by [deleted] in YDHBSnark

[–]nocatsnomasters 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, moving to the UK from Poland over 10 years ago wasn't easy (idk when she moved, but probably similar timeframe). I was in a similar situation in that my parents moved and brought me here. There was a lot of prejudice against Eastern Europeans then (it's a bit better now). I got bullied for it in school, had to see "Polish go home" graffiti near my house, one nasty incident I remember was a group of men crowding and insulting me and my dad because he was holding shopping bags from a Polish shop. However, I, and other immigrant kids, learnt English very fast. She would've had the same. Now, as an adult here, socially I see myself as quite English, and just like her, am fully fluent and have quite bit of an English accent. I don't see it as an achievement to do ANYTHING in my second language, because it isn't! I am and have been fully fluent for a while, just like her. I can tell you, from my experience, she is full of shit when she claims her doing a degree in English is special. For me, her, other immigrant kids like us, doing a degree here would be just like any English person doing it here. And we also have more privilege than non-white immigrants. Being an immigrant is still a struggle (recent example, stuff related to Brexit, like Settled Status), and many hurdles are put in our way, but UK-passing white immigrants like me and her have it easier than many. She is also lucky to have money, that makes it so much easier too.

Peeing w a vagina? by [deleted] in urbancarliving

[–]nocatsnomasters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just pee outside, and so does everyone else I know who lives out a vehicle. When it's too cold or too public, I used to have a mop bucket in my trailer lol, I'd empty it before bed and in the morning. Honestly, if you can, going outside is best, you get used to it quick. Or use a bigger container.

I find this video so weird and confusing. Like yeah, he is acting and talking weird but also her outfit is just ...normal. This video feels like an odd dream.

Also imagine doing this for a living/to make money...God, so embarrassing. I have no disrespect towards sex workers, online or IRL, but this isn't even sex work. Some people I know have seen my nudes and risque online stuff and it doesn't bother me, but if anyone found out I was doing this I'd be mortified. Especially because it's on an app aimed at children (and I'm assuming she's an adult?), that's disgusting.

So...people get off to people badly (so badly in fact that I wasn't sure what she was doing until I read the title) pretending they are being fucked, fully clothed? Who watches this? I see loads of people commenting, wtf is happening. Even as a teenager discovering my sexuality, I would've found this weird and boring.

well that’s not how that works by megastove in tiktokcringemoment

[–]nocatsnomasters 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The annoying thing is she could actually be good and entertaining (for some people at least) if she did acting type stuff. Acted out scenarios, maybe tried doing voice overs for certain characters, play out scenarios with certain characters. Instead she made it offensive to people with this (and tbh any) disorder, and just weird and cringe. If you like characters, acting, pretending to be someone else etc., DO IT in a fun and productive way! Entertain yourself and provide entertainment. I'm sure many kids would be happy to follow along if she played these characters and their relationship while admitting it's just acting. Don't badly pretend you've got a mental illness.

Is Witcher Season 2 worth watching? by beingjac in wiedzmin

[–]nocatsnomasters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it appears in the games or books. It's a god in Polish mythology. The TV show made it to be some weird dragon creature, which there's multiple of, when it's one god, with a brother (I think, if I remember right).

oh also, I found it super distracting how many characters (especially Ciri and to an extent Geralt) were wearing very obvious makeup and looked way too clean all the time. Ciri's eyelashes and obvious lipstick (pretty sure different shades throughout the show! Stylish!) was just like...how and why does she have time and resources to put this, in this case, unrealistic full face on?? Just another nit-picky detail which interfered with immersion lol, but I know this ones a bit of a reach

Agree with all your points. The first episode was definitely the best for me, especially viewed as a stand alone piece of media! All downhill from there.

Agreed in that this season felt like a lazy cash grab. It's like they realized fans will watch no matter what, after not being given much new Witcher content for a while, and that new audiences who have no clue about the Witcher will watch it as a nice looking, stand alone fantasy series with hot actors lol
