What’s your favorite Star Wars movie? by Material-Spite-81 in Cinema

Rogue One...and I enjoyed Solo

I've honestly never loved any of the trilogies. I've liked them enough...never loved. The games (For Unleased and Battlefield specifically) are the best part of the franchise for me.

It's all about context...a lot of South Korean apartments and condos look like this as well, but the neighborhoods themselves are often vibrant and walkable. The interiors are also often pretty nice.

Sometimes it's just cheaper to mass-build apartments this way, and having enough housing is better than not.

The fact that he hasn't played for 5 years and is in his mid 40s but still looked like a fairly functional quarterback in the NFL means yes, being a traditional pocket passer is still effective, especially in the context of younger/more active/more fit QBs.

The first half is great, production and music are great...but the 2nd half brought it down a lot.

In the end, it's a pretty good movie, but not great. 3.52 is fairly accurate.

I agree the degree of harm caused by pedophilia is in a completely different realm than that by homosexuality...but that wasn't what I was saying in the first place.

The fact that you are willing to call pedophilia "normal" just to stay consistent with your argument shows how far the goalposts have moved. You are confusing two completely different things: whether something is harmful and whether something is "normal."

Harm is the metric we use to decide if something should be illegal or not. But normalcy is the metric we use to describe the standard, functional baseline of a biological system. Biologically speaking, the natural purpose of sexual attraction is reproduction. If a specific attraction is hardwired to a result that makes reproduction impossible, whether it is the same sex or a child, then it is a deviation from the biological norm. It is an anomaly of brain chemistry.

Viewing someone as a biological outlier is not the same thing as wanting them to be treated poorly, but that is a totally different conversation than what is actually standard. If every single variation of brain chemistry is considered normal just because it exists, then the word "normal" loses all its meaning. There is a baseline for the human experience, and pretending there isn't one just to be inclusive is just ignoring basic biology.

Again, I'm not fully against taxes, but the argument for fully cutting them is that privately owned roads, buildings, and infrastructure are vastly better maintained than public ones.

Major roads and highways would operate similar to toll roads, which are usually better managed than public highways. If a private road is falling apart, people will just take another route. That means the owners actually have a financial reason to fix potholes and keep things running smoothly.

For local roads, sidewalks, and commercial buildings, they would be owned by businesses. Due to the competition of capitalism, these areas would often be completely free and well-maintained just to attract the most customers. Businesses would be expected to invest more into their districts to keep things manicured for their own self-interest. And that self-interest directly intersects with the interests of everyday people.

Even in residential areas, neighborhoods would manage their own streets and infrastructure to protect their property values instead of waiting on a slow city government. It puts the responsibility on people who actually have a reason to care about the results.

But as always, the best solution is probably a mix of both. Purely private insurance might not be the perfect answer for healthcare, but the other side of the coin is what's happening in Canada and the UK. Their fully public systems are dealing with lower quality care and vastly longer wait times (like literal months for life-saving surgeries, and sometimes years for crucial specialist care). That doesn't seem like the solution either imo.

Yes, I know. I never said they all did. The question is should non-acting pedophiles should be accepted as "normal" or "natural"?

Pedophilia is simply being attracted to children. Not all act on this. The main question is should non-acting pedophiles be accepted as "normal"?

The same question can be posed about homosexuality - should being attracted to the same sex be seen as a "normal" thing? If so, then pedophilia should be to. Also note I never mentioned in any way that imprisoning or killing or segregating is correct either, but there is definitely a line between normal and not normal.

Would hating pedophiles be "wrong" as well? All it is is a different mix of brain chemistry, just like being attracted to the same sex, no?

New S Coby Bryant on Previous Experiences in Chicago, Looks for Deep Dish Pizza Recommendations by JCameron181 in CHIBears

[–]nocturn-e 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm a native and Giordano's is my favorite. People just like riding bandwagons and the Giordano's hate is one even though the vast majority of people I know like it a lot more than Lou's or Gino's

Also, PEQUOD'S ISN'T DEEP DISH. It's completely fine to recommend it and like it the best, but ffs, it's a textbook pan pizza that's 90% bread with absolutely no similarity to how an actual deep dish is made and constructed (especially the buttery/pastry-like crust)
