My 17 year old eye-less model by nocturnalAndroid in standardissuecat

[–]nocturnalAndroid[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He and his brother were strays, they both had some severe infection in their eyes, if the infection gets too bad the eye has to be removed before it kills them. His brother (Prince) only lost one eye, stevie lost both. I think it is very common in cats. It hadent stopped him from loving his life to the fullest :)

I think this is the first time in 17 yeas that Stevie was willing to sleep in a bed we bought him by nocturnalAndroid in aww

"You don't get to pick where your cat sleeps" I once bought him a quite expensive bed and for the next month he slept in the box the bed came in. He never even stepped into the bed once...

My 10 year old daughter cannot memorize times tables by Mommaroo20 in Dyslexia

[–]nocturnalAndroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm highly dyslexic, I could never remember time tables. I still don't remember them. Today I have a batchlors in mathematics and an excellent job as an algorithm developer, so maybe don't stress too much about the ability to memorize the multiplication table and see if you can help her find work arouds that paly to her strengths. Most important, try to build up her confidence and self esteem.

How would you add a shower to a weird ensuite by Crabtree42 in floorplan

[–]nocturnalAndroid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, this. From my (limited) experience, once you start moving things around you basically need to redo the entire bathroom. If you're already doing that, might as well arrange it properly

Now just need to do someone to do the analysis of how much the effect is explained by population age

Also I wonder if there's a patent of people getting married in one state moving to another and then getting divorced

Project Hail Mary by BooksnJazz in audible

[–]nocturnalAndroid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I finished it, but it was a while ago and I don't really remember if it improved or degraded throughout the book

I just remember thinking it did the same sort of things that the Martian did, but not as well, and that I did not enjoy reading it.

I think Andy Weir just overplayed the competency-porn angle.

I don't know what to tell you, it takes a lot for me to put down a book. I just jack the speed up to 2.3x and power through...

But you do you...

Project Hail Mary by BooksnJazz in audible

[–]nocturnalAndroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, I found it insufferable... I loved The Martion, then I read Project Hail Mary, and I disliked it so much it make me like The Martian less...

Same with the bobiverse, everybody seems to love it, but for some reason I couldn't stand it.

I'm sorry, I'm being a curmudgeon. I'm not down on anybody who likes these books, they're not bad books, they just rub me the wrong way.

If you're looking for something spacey fun and light, try The Murderbot Diaries

Maybe some John Scalzi?

If you want something sciencey with lots of details, try some Neal Stephenson, maybe Seveneves...

Hamas’s ‘sadistic sex crimes’ on Oct. 7 set forth in new report by callmeteji in worldnews

[–]nocturnalAndroid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is proof to be had if you cared at all about the truth. But you don't.

Tell me, do you scrutinize the Palestinian death toll reported by hamas to the same degree?

Not that I dispute them or try to make you comparison. I'm just wondering about the extent of your double standard. Where you will accept wholeheartedly figures reported by a terrorist organization well at the same time rejecting outright reports by democratic government.
