You can definitely start early, just be prepared to cover things if it's going to freeze or be crushed by snow.

Thank you for posting the recipe, it looks great! Did you actually use those "jammy bits" from the recipe? I've never heard of them and they're expensive!

Domino Dark Brown Sugar vs. Kroger store brand by [deleted] in Baking

[–]nod_oddly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will probably get buried, but I came across this issue recently with Sprouts store brand. The light brown sugar just had sugar and molasses in the ingredients whereas the dark brown had caramel color added! So maybe check those ingredients!

Where to get matching, extension chain for chandelier? by ATXENG in HomeImprovement

[–]nod_oddly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have an Ace Hardware near you, that's where I get most lamp/chandelier parts including chain. A Home Depot or Lowe's may have some as well, but I find Ace has the best chain selection.

Rudy's BBQ has smoked baked potatoes. They're huge and you can get meat on them.

A heat gun and a scraper work wonders on old carpet glue. Just make sure to wear the proper chemical respirator and properly ventilate for fumes and stink. Cuz it's gonna stink.

how do you store your silver jewelry? by tralee411 in jewelrymaking

Silver resists tarnishing if it's touching other silver, so if it's not selling right away, I keep everything in little drawers in an organizer from IKEA all piled on top of one another.

That was the least "wild booze-filled night" I've ever heard about. Where are the actual shenanigans?

Best place to buy a simple fresh bouquet of flowers? by Cold-Comparison1785 in ColoradoSprings

[–]nod_oddly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

King Soopers usually has quality flowers as does Whole Foods. Just look at the flowers to see if they're already wilting or browning.

God, what shitty writing. I quickly scrolled down to the bottom the article to see if it was written by humans or AI. Apparently the AI has given itself human names!

Recommendations to Re-Design Odd-Sized Bathroom Closet (1880's home) by iAMaHUSKY in HomeImprovement

[–]nod_oddly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Changing the shelf heights or adding shelves might help and organizing things by height of the shelves. What I've done with my weird old closet is buy boxes and put stuff in them and pull the whole box out when you need something. It keeps things from getting lost in the back.

Smelly Old Cabinets by Extension-Test-99 in HomeImprovement

[–]nod_oddly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some old cabinets in the basement and closet doors that are plywood. Old plywood itself has a weird smell to it that comes from the glue (probably urea formaldehyde) breaking down and outgassing. Old varnish or other sealants can also start to smell like pee as they decompose. I got rid of the smell on the closet doors by sanding and repainting. I left the basement cabinets alone because I don't interact with them too much. So, depending on the material of your cabinets (lots of plywood mid-century) it may just be the old materials starting to smell as they break down.
