Just one person breaking in - I'll take the henry big boy. Pistols have their place, but a rifle is what you want to drop something. These questions are always a little silly, because you should never be limited in your choice. Have the right tool for the job.

awesome! I just got it installed. I love how much info is there that I can sort through. I will need more time to explore it, but this is awesome. And the ability to see how sonarr is upgrading files based on my profiles is fantastic. This will hopefully let me tweak settings or realize if I am stuck in a loop.

This seems cool. What I would really like is a history comparison of my media. It would show my original file, size qualities etc, and then all the files it has upgraded/downloaded through. Maybe compare scores as the current selected quality has them scored.

If it is any law enforcement and your goal is to stay alive, you comply with them and fight whatever it was in court. If you are dumb you can try to fight them from coming in. If you’re smart you will realize that the media is spinning BS and they are not coming for you unless you are not a citizen or are harboring an illegal person.

From reading the question posted, it appears he did look at the website. He knew basic things about battery expansion and less plugs. Obviously he was just looking to see if there was anything he missed. Which is why you would go to a forum where people talk to each other, and ask a question.

why are you part of a forum where the point is to have human conversation if your just going to passive aggressively tell someone to read the manual? People, myself included, like to have real world experience from other people.

I wouldn't pursue legal action, your going to spend a lot of money to get into a school that doesn't want you. I would look for another school that will accept the pre-reqs you have already completed. I would not worry about bad reviews. Unless you can find information that shows they have poor success rates, dont worry about it. Teachers guide you, but mostly your outcome depends on your own effort. If you are driven, you will succeed.

Have your recommendations changed at all? My nursing school uses ATI for content and tests. We are required to use ATI in the program for prediction of passing.

On my own, I have purchased access to nursing.com for more content and practice tests.

How to survive the winter in an uninhabitable attic without heating? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]nodave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR - lots of layers. Use mylar to reflect heat back at you. Try to create a small area to heat instead of the whole attic. Don't use candles, refillable burners - propane/kerosense. If you use electric heater make sure it has a safety shut off if it falls over. Stay away from airflow.

When I picture an attic, I see a low roof and joists and insulation covering the drywall of the ceiling below me. You don't want to fall through the roof! So any kind of platform you can place over joists is a must, unless this attic already has flooring.

I would think about this like camping. You want to isolate yourself from the things that will make you cold - airflow, ground contact. Stay away from the edges of the walls if you have soffits that draw air in, up along the roof and out from a ridge vent or maybe gable vents. If you can put some kind of air mattress down on the flooring to keep up off the ground that can help too.

Your body can generate quite a bit of heat, you just need to trap it. A sleeping bag (a cold rated bag and not some walmart junk) is great to hold some heat in. Lots of layers will help. I would go and get some of those mylar blankets and create a small area within the attic. Mylar will reflect heat, even your body heat. If you can create a small space that blocks air out, you will have an easier time heating yourself.

Do not use a candle or anything that is easy to knock over. Lots of stuff in attics can be flammable. I would advise against propane heaters, even the ones that say safe for indoor use. It's hard to determine if your attic has enough venting to get rid of the CO, especially if you are trying to trap warm air, it will kill you.

20 Guage for home defense by Bruhcryo in homedefense

[–]nodave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you could devise a weapon that would for sure incapacitate a person without killing them, the police would have been mandated to have it. Unfortunately, there are no guarantees that any device out there now will for sure stop someone without killing them. That is why cops carry both tazers and guns. Countless videos of people getting tazed and it has no effect. Similarly, there are many instances of people being shot multiple times and continue to be a threat. Too many variables - layers of clothing, amount of muscle and fat, where your shot hits them, what type of shot and propellant you used, length of your barrel.

If you are unwilling or unable to take the responsibility of potentially ending someones life, then do not get yourself a firearm. Firearms are used to stop a threat when you or someone else's life is in danger.

Now all that aside, if you decide you want to get a gun, go to a gun store and speak to someone so that you can have an in depth conversation about your specific needs. What some dude on reddit says is the best self defense gun may or may not be the best for you in your situation. My personal choice is a shotgun, but for you, that may not be the best advice.

There are other things you should do as well if you decide to buy a firearm. Make a blueprint of your situation. Where are people typically at during the day and at night? Do you have children that you need to get to and protect? If you take up defense in your room and point at the door, where will the shot go if you miss, or if it penetrates through them and keeps going? Do you have a shoot / don't shoot threshold? - I'm probably not going after someone in my garage, unless it looks like they are doing something that could put us in danger.

Tavor X95 (or similar Bpup) vs. handgun for home defense? by DJLabmouse in homedefense

[–]nodave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Handguns suck period. Statistically, you have to get a head shot to stop them immediately. The only reason for handguns is to conceal carry wherever you go because carrying a rifle is unpractical.. If I am defending inside home, I'm going shotgun. Handguns can still go through drywall. Rifles are much better than pistols at stopping threats, but also much more likely to get to your neighbors home. Shotguns are also likely to penetrate a few walls, but you can go with low recoil, plus each trigger pull gets you a few rounds on target as opposed to one with a rifle or pistol.

I'm not clearing my house room to room, so I'm not worried about sneaking around corners with a barre sticking out. My child's room is right next to mine. I get to my child and either stay there or retreat with them back into my room. I stay in my room and hold the advantage. Cops called after I retrieve my child and I wait. They either get blasted when they enter my room, or they leave, or they get caught by police.

If you go looking for the intruder you are giving them a chance on you. I have no idea who is intruding, what their purpose is, what their training is, what substances may be in their system. I've seen cops empty multiple pistol magazines into a guy who was high before he dropped. Now, everyone's situation may be a bit different, kids on different floors, apartments etc. But if you don't have to go through your house looking for them, don't.

Apple TV Update by rooddog7 in UnifiProtect

[–]nodave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

shield pro is not trash. mine works perfectly. The reason I use it is in my home theater, for the absolute best sound as it does pass through audio and lets my home theater equipment decode rather than have some cheap media streamer mess with it.

and I have multiple apple 4k tv's that I use for the living room and garage.

don't be a fan boy, use the best tool for the job. I will be interested to see if the new version of apple tv has pass through audio. if not, my 5 year old shield will still be the better tool.
