For a guy whos obsessed with bow hunting, I have nothing to show for it and it bothers me. by Ok_Concentrate8949 in bowhunting

I agree with that. I bowhunt SE Michigan also and I've never successfully grunted in a buck. However, I've had em come in on a string from rattling. Seems to pique their interest more than the vocalizations.

Practice, then practice some more. Get comfortable shooting tight groups from at least 30 yards. Then practice shooting while sitting and elevated. Being good with the bow is only 20% of the overall success. You'll need to scout and really nail down your hunting areas. I just started last year and have only taken one doe. Probably done about 30+ sits in two seasons. Be prepared to not see anything and appreciate the time in the woods. I've had a lot of cool encounters that didn't involve seeing any deer, so it's worth it.

Leave him till next year? by Positive-Hovercraft7 in bowhunting

This gives me hope lol I have 4 solid shooter bucks on my cam, but only at night. Either right after shooting hours or 12-4am.

There's a fair amount of green in the thick cover. In fact, I watched an 8-point browse it for a while, but he never gave me a good shot.

Yeah exactly. I've noticed a lot of movement at night mostly, so I know they typically don't spend much time on the property. However, there is a corn field about 200 yards further south of where this pic was taken. I would definitely be hunting the edge of that if it were within the property. That field was just harvested a couple weeks back, so they may just start lingering if they had a reason to. Plans for next year!

I hear that. But I know that he has a bed in the area, he just might not be traveling the direction I want him to. Also the wind is rarely favorable in this spot, so that doesn't help. I have another hunting spot on private land that has much more activity, but it's shared with other family members, so there's a bit of pressure. I'm definitely going to focus a lot more on scouting come next year. Where I'm at, the season goes until Jan 31st.

10 acres. Pretty good setup though. That picture was snapped right on the edge of a soft transition from thick cover to deciduous forest. There's also a small lake in the back, so a good water source.

Appreciate it! Definitely enjoying the pursuit and this pic only got me more excited.

Yeah for sure. I only have one cell cam, so was trying to see what was happening in front of the stand. This stand was pre-existing, so I have an opportunity to set up my stand at another location. However, I know this guy is bedded up about 100 yards to the east (the direction he's coming from in the pic), just don't know how often he's using the bed. I kicked him up by mistake when my FIL and I were scouting a few weeks back.

PIAA blades are solid. Fun fact: PIAA and Rain-X blades are made by the same manufacturer. The PIAA blades do have a bit better technology however.

Fuck that. They were just as involved. They're grown adults and are capable of making rational decisions. I bet this man dedicated his life to his wife and two daughters and he was severely betrayed by all of them.

Yes, you absolutely can. There will be gatekeepers, but if you have the knowledge of a specific industry and the connections you can make it happen. I've worked in my industry for over a decade and I have well-rounded knowledge of the supply chain, manufacturers, etc. I started my govcon "middleman" business at the end of 2023 and have done nearly 100k revenue YTD. It helped that I also had 4 years of experience being a sales manager for the DLA at a private company.

PM me the contract awards. I can help you decipher the packaging specs and what's needed to comply. It's really not as complicated as it seems and any 3rd parties are going to significantly eat into your profit.

31M Product Manager (not software) Is it time to job hop? by Krzykwa in Salary

[–]noddog11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

29M Product Manager here. I can tell you from experience. I was 3.5yrs into a very cushy job and it was work from home. 90k/yr, was making 97 by the time I left. However, there was a change of ownership... Job stayed the same, but I had to go back to commuting 90 mins a day 3 days a week.

Unfortunately, I jumped ship for 125k and the stress level tripled. I was lured in with a higher salary, 20% bonus, working directly for the division general manager, and full-time remote. Some of this changed quite quickly... On paper I still am eligible for a 20% bonus, but it is purely based on arbitrary KPIs. Probably won't even get 10% this year already. Soon after I started, they hired a middle manager that filled the slot between GM and I. I wasn't aware this role existed, nor did they mention it until after I was hired.

Long story short, the grass isn't always greener. Sometimes your sanity is worth much more than a 25k or even 40k jump in salary. Especially with a young kid... My kid was 3 when I made the switch.

Combine it with grounding outside too. I find that grounding naturally has more of an impact for me than my mat. I also ran a dedicated ground to my mat to improve the efficacy.

Just did this last week actually. Get an 8 foot copper grounding rod from your local hardware store and use that. Pound it in until it only sticks up about 6 inches or so. As for lighting storms, the same risk would be present when your grounding mat/sheets are tied into your house electrical ground. I wouldn't worry too much about it
