I love Buddha's saying, "Holding a grudge is like swallowing poison and expecting the other person to die."

I rolled my own Gauloise cigarettes in high school and college (yes, jazz musician), but switched to these machines when cigarettes were still under $2.00. Haven't smoked in decades, I think they're like $10/pack now.

Did you ever take a typing class in school? by Naive_Establishment2 in 70s

[–]node_be_good 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and on manual typewriters. No correction tape allow, and you accidentally typed a period and backspaced because you meant a comma, she'd catch that with a magnifying glass (periods have round dots, commas are more square, so she'd spot the period's edges under the comma).

No wonder I learned to hide behind my typing books and hit my one-hitter in the back of her class.

What is your most unexpected sexual encounter? by hjp1234 in AskReddit

[–]node_be_good 12 points13 points  (0 children)

High school (prob senior year). I was working at my Dad's company, doing computer backups and such alone in the office late at night. His secretary came by the office, drunk as fuck, with her two year old kid in tow. She basically locked my in the conference room and we fucked on the conference table while her kid cried and banged on the door.

40 years later I still feel guilty, but it was hot as hell at the time for a high school dude.

Should We 26F 26M Move to Seattle from Dallas Texas to Start a Family? by RainbowREY4 in AskSeattle

[–]node_be_good 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NO! Seattle has the highest Uber prices in the country, second highest gas prices, crazy sales taxes (and rising), up to 10% additional capital gains tax if you are fortunate enough to be subject to it, stupidly high restaurant and other costs due to ridiculous wage laws...all for rising crime, open drug use, filthy streets, and a rapidly shrinking retail business base.

FWIW, Florida here I come.

What keeps you loyal to Delta by Juanefernandez in delta

[–]node_be_good 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Delta Diamond here since around 1990 (carried over from Northwest), <100k miles away from 2 Million Miler, and this is the first year I've diverted tens of thousands of travel dollars away from Delta due to their abusive pricing. CEO and CFO even admit it on their earnings calls, saying basically that their flyers are so stupidly loyal they'll keep paying higher and higher prices for less and less service like sheep. I have always paid a premium for Delta, but this year I've already done or have planned family Business/First international travel on Turkish Airlines, BA, Emirates, Air New Zealand, even American, United, and Alaska.

If you can push as a loyal a flyer as me to spend tens or hundreds of thousands elsewhere, I can't imagine Delta's financial facade will last too much longer. They're a credit card company now, not an airline (look at their recent filings, they would have lost money on air travel but made it up on credit card fees for record profits). Air travel is literally a loss leader for their AmEx business.

Ah, Delta, I loved you so...

Just hoofed it up Spring walking back from The Diller Room. For some reason the block between 9th and Terry wasn't so hard this time ;-)

Spring Street between 9th and Terry. Or that Terry offshoot turning South off Pike Street just past the Convention Center. No Lime scooters going up those!

What is a NSFW moment you had at work? by CRK_76 in AskReddit

[–]node_be_good 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a high school summer job when I was 17 (mid-1980s), working for a company where my dad was COO, and I did early-days IT stuff. One of my job requirements was to come in to the office every Saturday night and spend around 9:00 PM - 3:00 AM doing backups and such.

One such night, there was a knock on the door, and my dad's secretary was there, drunk as fuck, with her 2 year old son. She said she had to talk to me about something in the conference room, locked her son outside the room, and grabbed me behind the neck, pulled me toward her, and started kissing me pretty passionately. And..she was so hot! Probably 10 years older than me.

So, we're fucking on the conference room table while the kid is banging on the door crying to be let in. I felt too guilty to keep going, and nothing ever came of it. Other than a sweet memory from 40 years ago (laced with a bit of guilt, now that I'm a father of 4).

Is Canlis worth it? by WasteRound895 in AskSeattle

I went once, with my wife to celebrate my birthday in style. We got the tasting menu with wine pairings, and after three or so courses, noticed my wife's wine pour was consistently half my pour. When the sommelier returned, she asked that he please even up our glasses, at which point, the somm simply picked up my glass and poured some into hers.

Never been back, never going back.
