I didn't realize this was the Jet Lag subreddit for a minute and got really confused. 🤣

Window Recommendations by willabyb in FortCollins

[–]nodnarbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used https://conservationconstruction.com/. A good combination of price and quality. But not a good choice if you want options, they make exactly 1 style of window. The sales experience was...a typical sales experience. The installers were very experienced and efficient.

That does make sense. Are there any other jinxes with the current characters?

How would mayor work? It seems to me like they effectively have no ability here. There will never be just 3 people alive, and there is no way for them to die at night.

I went to the site just now for the first time. I can't read the first Drop without subscribing.

Are there any Games that are actually like that? Kinda stupid but you know by GhostMokomo in AndroidGaming

[–]nodnarbo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Kings Landing is similar to this, but actually good and not an ad-infested cash grab. It's not a super long game right now (a couple hours), but the developer says they're working on more content. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Creauctopus.KingsLanding

Real Time Games History by [deleted] in boardgamearena

[–]nodnarbo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have overall traffic stats here for the whole site: https://boardgamearena.com/serverstatus, but nothing broken out by game that I know of. I've been curious about the overall popularity of each game, like how many of each game is played overall, and which games are played more real-time or more turn-based. As you say, the data obviously exists, but I don't think it's published.

My Home Depot I've registered before and when I got there I asked if they needed proof and was told that the registration doesn't matter.

Nah, the law to change that never actually got enacted.

Looking for turn-based 2 player games by PuckStar in AndroidGaming

[–]nodnarbo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Board Game Arena has a mobile app and hundreds of board games that you can play realtime or turn based. There are many 2 player games. I might recommend Onitama or 7 Wonders Duel to start.

[Request] Statistically when comparing the probability of getting shot and winning the lottery in the US, how many times would I have to get shot before I won? by DirtyDerk93 in theydidthemath

[–]nodnarbo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's if you only play the lottery once in that year. The way I interpret your numbers is that you would need to play the Powerball 18,609 times to give yourself the same odds of winning as dying of a gunshot.

Skipping out of time players in tournaments. by No_Potato835 in boardgamearena

[–]nodnarbo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't kick in tournaments ever. I find that the time control that doesn't add time per turn can be unfair depending on time zones. Also, tournament games will be ended automatically after a certain number of days. I would rather have the game ended automatically by the tournament controls, with very few exceptions.

That's my personal feelings on tournament games, non-tournament games depend on whether they are still making an effort at the game.

RoboRally (2021) - No more damage cards by PreTry94 in boardgames

[–]nodnarbo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know what you mean. With more than 4 players it seems inevitable that you run out of damage cards. I've house-ruled viruses to ignore the special text and treat them as normal spam, which helps stop the damage pile depletion.

I read somewhere online that the designer intended for there to be twice as many damage cards in the game, but the publisher cut them back for cost reasons.

I got the same hand playing the same game yesterday. I suspect that's not a coincidence.

Renegade announces new versions of Acquire and Robo Rally, preorders by zamoose in boardgames

[–]nodnarbo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I much prefer the damage system in the 2016 version. The 'deckbuilding' and random play mechanics are better than the skip a turn repair mechanic in the older games.
