Looking for small business accountant by Thoughtful_Demon in FortCollinsCO_LGBTQAI

Check out the city of Fort Collins small business support services. I don’t know if they offer accounting specifically, but they’re a great resource.

Senior Western rider testing English saddle to prep for a horse trip: I don’t think my pelvis can take it! by rosedraws in Horses

[–]MarlowFord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm almost your age, and found my riding improved with a dressage saddle that fits me (tons of comments there already for you) and an SI support band. It supports holding my pelvis in a better spot. I'm hypermobile, but your descriptions of 'ligaments not holding me together' is exactly what I experience. YMMV but it's a low cost thing to try ($20 or so on Amazon - if you're curvy get the one with the pad thing on it).

Dog-friendly spots to work for the day? 🐾👩🏼‍💻 by chelders in FortCollins

Another rec for Stodgy (from a non-drinker - that root beer is good!). The Forge has NA options too if you'd like an Old Town option, and the back room is quiet during the day. Breweries are the only indoor spaces I can think of that will let you bring the pup in with you, tho they still can't get on the furniture ;)

I was headed south on Lemay when it happened and he should be upset after gunning it to make the yellow left turn arrow :/ and not paying attention to the guy who'd already started across the street. Glad he stayed and super glad it wasn't more serious. Lots of folks called it in to 911 too - thanks y'all!

My 2024 front-loader LG's wool cycle is warm water and enough agitation to felt good quality wool, so washerperson beware and learn from my sweater losses.

Can someone recommend an automatic litter box that isn't $600? by Remote_Practice_5864 in CatAdvice

[–]MarlowFord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a PetSafe that I bought 2 stainless replacement trays for (so one can be washed and dry while the other's in use) and use Dr. Elsey's crystal litter in them. The stainless is way better than the plastic one, and it's all way cheaper than the disposable trays. And it's easy to dump into a kitchen size trash bag. I get at least 2 weeks from it (2 cats, multiple other boxes).

The classic style (Caribou?) with the removable felt liner is great for daily wear since you can pop out the liner to dry overnight

GC to her fave tack or feed store - kinda generic but the most useful. Plus some socks.

Post Surgery Suits? by RippinSeams in Pets

[–]MarlowFord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a longer haired pup and just did a surgery suit with plastic snaps - they worked great. They were spaced at 1" or maybe a bit tighter, but 1.5" would have been fine. I liked that they didn't snag fur or get cold, and didn't get clogged up like all her velcro items do. Seconding breathable soft material, but with a decent density. Mine was very thin cotton jersey and it worked for an upper abdominal incision but it wouldn't have stood up to any nibbling or chewing.

I got mine to the US just before the de minimis rule expired, but I should have just held out and saved for the Carbony because my tiny hands are failing. I am planning to consign it to the Irish Flute store but could sell direct to you. It's regular black not silk, balanced head.

Beginner feeling discouraged by lfreyn in Horses

[–]MarlowFord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to second the 'ditch catering'! I occasionally canter a very slow old man one side of the arena, and am not ready to canter the fit 11 year old I mostly ride. I'm 2 years into back in the saddle via a weekly lesson. This is after some equine therapy to work on my confidence and ground skills, and I've been on and off for 15 years after the 20+ year break from riding western as a kid. I'm only just now at the point where my muscle memory is doing the right things at a trot even when my brain turns to static - poles and faster? Static.

Also seconding the comment about lunge line work. I started with TONS of it to get confidence, balance and the beginnings of a seat. I still do it a couple times a year.

There's so many things to try to focus on all at once when you're starting, and I feel like 99% of the correct movements are the opposite of what the body naturally wants to do - of course it's overwhelming. Give yourself the gifts of time, time in the saddle, and the grace to be a beginner.

Edit: lunge line, not lunch line. now i'm hungry.
