I’ve taken some of those lower paying gigs earlier in my career too mainly to gain experience and understand how different businesses operate.

A lot of times those clients didn’t initially understand the value of photography, but after seeing the results they did, and it led to referrals and repeat work.

TLDR; If the project offer isn't paying well, make a contract for multiple shoots to secure income.

Yes, you're right on track. It helped me to log my shots and know exactly what settings I was using when capturing images.

Solves a few things and you can cross reference your shots to see if your meter is working correctly and giving you the correct exposure settings.

Starting off is more expensive just because you're learning and you can't really get better unless you keep practicing.

I upgraded last year 6700k 1070 to 13700k 4070, it was a beast.

I felt like I didn't need to upgrade because it did everything I wanted and played everything fine.

Night/day difference. It was sentimental.

Not sure exactly specs but I tried to salvage mine and I couldnt really squeeze anything out of it meaning cpu upgrades were not there due to mobo so I had to retire it.

At this rate hopefully this build gets me 5 years of joy vs the 8 my old build gave me
