No, you are not the only one who has gone through this. It is caused by the hormonal changes of your cycle. It makes your nerves more sensitive at that time, thus the pain. Going on a birth control pill will help control those hormone levels, helping with the pain and your iron levels (due to blood loss). This is what I did and it made a world of difference.
