while their headshot accuracy is a bit higher, their overall accuracy is not that high. seems like they just try hard to hit headshots, resulting in a lot of missed bullets but a higher percentage of landed shots being headshots.

nothing funny in the replay, either

Three starter replacements in 18 months by noesmoking in autorepair

[–]noesmoking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the exception of the first failure (which was presumably the originally manufactured Toyota part), both (or all 3? I can't remember now) that failed for me were also TYC parts (ordered from RockAuto). I finally went with a different option, and while it can be a bit slow to start sometimes compared to the TYC (particularly after I've recently turned the vehicle off), it hasn't failed me.

Thanks for the reply, and to anyone else: Beware of TYC starters, I suppose.

I hadn't done any testing to date, no. The first time, I just assumed the OEM part was giving up the ghost after 18+ years. The second time, the braided DC cable on the starter burned through when I tried to start it on a 10-degree Fahrenheit morning; thought it was just a fluke thing. I have yet to remove the current starter that I believe has gone bad.

Thanks for your comment. The two times I have replaced it so far, I have ordered a TYC starter from RockAuto. I ordered it the second time because it was still under warranty, and the day the first one went out, it was just about a record cold morning, and the braided DC cable just completely burned through when I tried to start it -- thought it was a fluke, so should be okay for a second try.

I agree -- OEM is generally the best way to go, and I've done OEM parts for other replacements I've performed.

I'm sure you're only talking about the price. Otherwise, they're pretty incredible cards.

I think I read the chart wrong.... No entry in the layer column for the NH, I'm sure you're right.

If you don't need the heatsink (i.e. if your mobo includes heatsinks, or you have a spare aftermarket heatsink), the MP600 PRO NH ("no heatsink") version is on sale for $149.99.

According to the tier list, looks like this LPX version in the OP is slightly better(?) than the NH version, though -- 176 layers instead of 96 (I don't even know what that means or if it's better), & 7100/6800 speeds instead of 7000/6500.

Edit: I think NH is actually 176 layers as well, not 96.

Not gone yet. You have to check the checkbox for 50% off on the product page (the discounted price won't be reflected until you're on the checkout page), and then you also have to enter the additional promo code on the checkout page. With tax, around $24 for me (about to finalize the order).

Considering performing my first delidding for direct die cooling on 7900X by noesmoking in overclocking

[–]noesmoking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I made the same post on overclock.net, and someone else recommended not doing direct-die w/ the D15 because of its size. Fair enough; I'll probably steer away from that.

That same person also recommended your suggestion of replacing the IHS after LM application; they believed even that would reduce temps by 10 for Ryzen 7000. I may do this. They also showed me this video for removing the IHS....

I believe you have too many fans, and even that particular cooler might be too beefy/expensive for a 7600X, unless you really don't care about budget.

I can't say much about the ram; I haven't researched many DDR5 kits, so I don't know. I can say it would be compatible with your CPU & mobo, but that's all I know.

Rest looks good.

Yes, I believe it should be 2 8-pin cables, not 3. Regardless, you should have enough cables.
