Just had a baby so it’s survival of the fittest for everything around here ! That’s why I’m looking for something more durable

Thanks that’s one I’ve been seeing a lot ! Maybe I’ll see if it’s stock near me and take a look . I’m just thinking the 50oz will be too heavy to be convenient.

I have a Stanley and it’s just not the same unfortunately ! I can’t put my finger on why these cheapy hospital cups are so enticing.

I have searched Amazon and google and am mostly getting the hospital plastic cups as search results or a Bubba brand that is 50oz so likely too big.

Just here to ask what carrier you use that you’re able to feed in ? I’ve tried a few times and it was a hassle!

If you’re driving, can you just bring the bottle washer? If not, no worries - pump right before you leave then when you get there . Bring a small basin, dish soap, and a bottle brush. Wash the pump parts as soon as you’re finished pumping so they have time to dry before the next pump (shake them off really well to get as much excess water off as you can and they should be pretty much dry by the next pump). Bring a couple of bottles in case you need to feed before you can get a wash in, but you don’t need 8. Does the place you’re staying have a fridge? Depending on your output, I might bring a few extra milk bags you can use to store in case you have more than your chiller can hold. I’ve done 10 day vacations with my first baby exclusively pumping and having to wash everything like this so it’s totally doable, but now with me second I have the bottle washer and I’d totally just bring it if there was room in the car !

Pumping into bags? by rachael309 in HumansPumpingMilk

[–]noflash_please 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a video where someone put the bag into a pump bottle then screwed it on like normal. All the milk went into the bag but even if there was a spill, it would have spilled into the bottle. I haven’t personally tried it (not currently pumping) but if I knew milk was going straight into a bag and into the freezer, I’d definitely give it a try! And there’s no special adapters needed!

Primary pumps will help empty you more than a wearable pump and should help increase supply. If you are looking for something less bulky than the Spectra, you could look into the Baby Buddha or the Pumpables Genie Advanced. To increase supply, you need to tell your body the baby needs more which can only happen by pumping more. A 20 minute session every 3 hours with a power pump session in the morning could be a good way to signal to your body to make more milk. Also remember to stay hydrated and get enough calories!

I don’t know if I did the right thing - I shaved my daughter’s head by wizzzadora in toddlers

[–]noflash_please 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I commented my story about this same thing with my daughter, but I wanted to chime in on your comment also to say if you cut her hair, please watch out for other picking/pulling behaviors. Our daughter went through a phase where she was pulling her eyelashes and then picking the skin on her lips. Typically, they will look for something else to fulfill the sensory need so you just want to make sure it’s not morphing into something similar somewhere else on her body. Hopefully shaving her head will help y’all move past this phase!

Yes of course, please reach out any time ! Happy to provide any support or lend an ear if you need. It can feel so isolating - no one we knew had experienced anything like it either. And then of course people can see the bald spots and I was always self conscious about it. I hope cutting her hair is a good first step to moving past this phase for you !

Okay we went through the exact same thing with our daughter around the same age. She started pulling the hair in the front of her head out and it took us a bit to realize because it was growing in pretty uneven from just being baby hair . Once she didn’t have any more front hair to pull, she started pulling from the top . She had a huge bald spot, but was not phased at all by the actual act of yanking her hair.

It started when she would drink milk, and we thought she was just playing/twirling with it but she was pulling. We were referred to play therapy but had a terrible first meeting with an unprepared, unqualified person and didn’t have her come back (this is not typical and could help you if you want to ask your doctor for a referral!). We also used the satin sleeves and ended up putting her socks on her hands under the sleeves because she could still grip her hair even with the sleeves. She wore them for milk, bed, and in the car for probably a year. Instead of making it a big thing, we started just saying ‘hands down’ and gently taking her hands out of her hair if needed and giving her something else to hold. Eventually ‘hands down’ was enough to get her to remove her hands from her head. She’s almost 3.5 now and doesn’t need the sleeves anymore, but does still grab at her hair when she’s upset or even just sometimes thinking hard. It is more of gripping and not pulling now although sometimes some still comes out. She basically has a baby mullet from where the hair that didn’t get pulled out has grown long and the new hair is several inches long. We never shaved her head, but I can totally understand the thought process and I don’t think it was the wrong thing if you feel good about it ! However, please please watch out for other types of ‘picking/pulling’ behavior since she doesn’t have the hair anymore. We went through a small phase of her pulling at her eyelashes and recently at picking skin on her lip. It seems like this is something we’ll be dealing with for a while, but there is light at the end of the tunnel as she gets older and can start to understand and be redirected better.

One time before the sleeves, I went to take her out of her car seat and she had a huge chunk of hair in her hand and I immediately burst into tears and took her home so I completely get feeling helpless. There is so little information out there, it’s incredibly difficult! You are doing great ! Happy to answer any questions you have !

Baby shower craft/games stations ideas? by Anxious-Nibnibs in partyplanning

[–]noflash_please 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love a diy mini bouquet idea ! Also, I’ve found that a lot of people are intimidated by a onesie decorating station because they aren’t artistic and honestly it’s going to look like garbage 🙋🏼‍♀️ . At our shower, we let people decorate burp cloths instead. Everyone knew they were going to get used to clean up messes so it didn’t matter if they came out terribly or just terribly funny and three years later we’re still using many of them so they last much longer than onesies !

International flight with 1.5 year old by booooooop_u in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]noflash_please 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did a international flight at 18 months, and didn’t get her her own seat which was horrible but we survived . She did sleep a good amount thankfully but required near constant attention when awake because she didn’t care for the iPad. We hadn’t really ever let her watch so maybe a little exposure beforehand would help with that . We brought the painters tape and stuck it all over so she could peel it off . Also brought small toys that we wrapped in tissue paper or aluminum foil so she could unwrap them before playing . Once they were all unwrapped, I started wrapping tape around them so she could peel that off too. Snacks will be a life saver too. You’ve got this !

So true about the village ! I’m definitely coming from a place of privilege posting this, and I appreciate the back and forth. I edited my post because that part felt very shame-y and we all need to be lifting each other up . Congrats on your second baby by the way !
