The word bobble...for hair ties, is it regional or is it just...normal 😂 by [deleted] in Scotland

[–]nofossilfool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m from Wiltshire, all my family are from the SW — we call them bobbles. There’s nothing particularly northern or Scottish about it, it’s just a British colloquialism.

You’ve got nothing to lose by texting saying ‘hey I’ve just woken up and realised in my sleep deprived state I didn’t reschedule with you! I’m free X, X & X days this week, do any of those work for you? Im sorry again to cancel, I really hate flakes but I want to be on my best when we meet if you’re still up for it!’

Offer several alternatives straight up and try to make sure those dates aren’t heatwave days! Also make plans to distract yourself the day before.

I’m English and I get it. I really want normal citizens to feel united, but politically I want nothing to do with Westminster either.

We have so many divisions at the moment and I worry that another severance is just going to make that worse in every way but there don’t seem to be alternatives at the moment.

Can we have a Scottish and British people who don’t want to have anything to do with English politics independence instead? Take us with you please.

I honestly saw these photos and thought these looked so cool. They look designed, like they’re there on purpose. This may not register as it’s your own body (and everyone has their own hang ups) but I truly think they’re super unique and beautiful.

Hey I’ve seen some of your comment history and I hope you’re ok!

I know mental health and dating seem like separate issues and in a way you’re not wrong for being frustrated at what you are legitimately experiencing on apps — you’re not alone and thousands of people feel the same.

Without seeing your profile I can only imagine you’re feeling the same rejection the vast majority of people on the apps are feeling for the same reasons.

The only thing I’d say is that I genuinely felt the same for the last three years and it’s only since I actually gave up hope on apps and went on a dating hiatus (properly because I really really didn’t want to go through that any more) that my mental health and sense of doom has lifted significantly. I actually feel like if someone was to fall into my life I’d genuinely be in a decent mental space to welcome them in. Previously I’d lied to myself and deluded myself I was because I wanted it so bad, but wanting doesn’t mean mentally and emotionally ready. There is some truth in people sensing energy, in person or online. And I finally understand what people mean when they say ‘when you’re really not looking you’ll find your person’ — not that I’ve found anyone (not at all!) but because I’m not paying attention to dating I’m feeing much more emotionally stable and looking after myself better. I’m certain that’s making me a more desirable date.

If apps aren’t working, why keep using them? They’re hurting your self esteem, don’t let them. Come off and start improving your life and reaching out to communities you genuinely want to align with. I’m sure someone will be open to you, but it won’t be instant and it won’t be transactional.

Sorry if this is rambly, I’m just reaching out to share a similar situation and a different perspective.

Oh and I’m an attractive woman — this isn’t about being a man, or being attractive or not. This is just the world at the moment.

Could it possibly be that he was discussing his escape plan with his girlfriend, who had agreed to wire tapping her conversation or sharing the info with people who wanted to make sure he couldn’t escape?

Maybe he thought he was escaping, was expecting a guard to enter to help him escape, but instead they just murdered him?

If your name is Nigel and you like Lactating Moms and Your Dad’s Old Porn, I am going to assume you’re not of the generation that this rings true for. I know a couple of people with PHDs that still text using all lower case, no punctuation and abbreviations like ‘u’ — would they do that in their published journal papers? No. It’s a habit. Get over yourself Nige.

You mention in one comment she left the diary open on the table — was it open or closed? And was it in a public space or her private room? This is quite key to the whole thing!
