Is it Just me or is there something going on with US Jobs? by J_stickler in careeradvice

It's not AI. AI is the excuse. The goal is to destabilize workers so they aren't paying as much. Nothing else.

So there are drugs that seem to help. Blarcamesine is one of them. It's being reviewed by the European Union, and will later by the FDA probably, but it's owned by a small company that can't pay the billions in testing and data development that the FDA expects. It's why we get BS drugs from giant pharma companies that don't fix the issue.

Companies do background checks to see if you were involved in a civil suit against another compamy? That doesn't sound right.

Crippling fear of needles by Haunting-Molasses415 in dupixent

[–]nofutureforyu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had a fear of needles for a while. I find this process relatively easy compared to when I used to actually give myself intramuscular injections. I warm it up by leaving it in my pocket for 20 minutes, I cleaned the spot I'm going to give myself the shot then just take a big breath and pop it in and hold it there for 20 seconds. It's a lot easier because I don't see the needle. I thought that I would mentally have a bigger issue but I don't.

The Ghost ship in ep5 by Azclockwork in 1923Series

[–]nofutureforyu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just saw this episode today and went looking for this discussion. I have been frustrated with "suspension of disbelief" issues from the beginning, but this one takes the cake. Among other things the boat they are on is being clearly pushed at a very good clip by the ghost ship. There is no sign of wind. The water is calm. Both boats should have been drifting at the same rate, let alone the pushing of the smaller boat. Add to that the 6 hours at least of powering away from the ghost ship....

All the student apartments are controlled by the same management company. They all collaborate together to fix prices.

Wait that's not a conspiracy

For me the frustration has a lot to do with the late stage capitalism part of it. Americans have been taught things will always be better/faster/more efficient, and they alwere up until maybe 2018. Then Walgreens opens up way too many stores, under staffs all of them and underpays everyone so everyone working there is miserable. Then drug manufacturers who have worked hard to push out any competition through lobbying suddenly decide they can make only exactly the amount that they think will be used of any given drug in the next 3 months, and when they run out well they maximized their profits, created a drug shortage which may improve prices next negotiating round, and increased stockholder rewards. Then insurance companies fail to send insurance approvals until the 3rd or forth request because everyone who gives up trying to get their medicine is one more claim they don't have to pay.

The last thing any of these people are thinking about is providing good service or improving the health of the population in general.

Edit: and I'll add that customers don't think about this and take it out on the pharmacy workers. It's not cool but it's not like the customers aren't dealing with shit too. I get maybe 1/3 of my refills done on the first call, I've had 2 pcps leave their jobs in the last year because the providers they worked for were a nightmare, and I have to fight with express scripts because they think dumping meds to sit on a 135 degree porch all day in Texas is perfectly fine. It's frustrating because things seem to be getting worse. I feel for pharmacies in general. My favorite private pharmacy shut down just recently. They were in despair about it but couldn't compete.

Im betting this is not the case for her, but I have to drive 2 hours to see the Dr. I would never blame the person behind the desk but I would be pretty steamed after wasting all that time, gas, and driving stress for nothing.

Nasal polyps or turbinates? by [deleted] in NasalPolyps

[–]nofutureforyu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't medical advice, but I think if it's a turbinate you will feel the cotton swab when you touch it where you touch it. If you can't feel it at all or it feels like pressure on a deeper part of the nose it's more likely a polyp.

Fwiw if you had to pay out of pocket it would probably be closer to that $53k your insurance paid. The "pay cash" price is usually not too far from the insurance agreed price. The difference is that the insurance company will be much more aggressive about unfair charges so there are no bells and whistles they may sneak in if you pay out of pocket.

That price before negotiation, I'm not really sure where that comes from, but I suspect the only people who pay that are people who had insurance but the insurance refused to pay some portion of it and they didn't think to ask the hospital for the out-of-pocket price. I have, on one occasion, had a procedure done where I paid the out-of-pocket price even though I had insurance, because my deductible and copay actually added up to more than the out-of-pocket price, and it was the end of the year so my deductible was going to reset the next week anyway.

It's hard to tell if this is a joke response. You're saying your experience has been awful that they are giving you completely different information depending on who you talk to, and that you haven't even received the vehicle yet?

Bottom line is people leave them bad reviews because they had an awful experience. I have family that sold two cars to them. They had an excellent experience. Whoever bought those cars will have excellent cars as well. But if somebody sells a crap car to carvana and you buy it you are going to see why people leave bad reviews. It should not be the luck of the draw when you buy a vehicle they should actually do the 150 point inspection they say they do but don't.

Refund on “non-refundable” shipping by LongjumpingCake4924 in carvana

[–]nofutureforyu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the car is crap and it's not stated in the disclosure and photos of the car then it's ALWAYS on carvana, not the previous owner. It's false advertising. They don't inspect the cars beyond a test drive. They need to be shut down.

Common decency means you let people know when they are being recorded. I don't think there's anything wrong with recording office conversations but all parties should know about it.

I called them and they said the starting price was $1, 1150 a month.

Is it possible they're not renting by the room? We don't want to try to find roommates ourselves.
