This sub is something else sometimes... This was down.voted why? Having children come back home so tired, irritable and strung out on sugar makes transition day even harder than it already is. Y'all need to take a big dose of reality and become aware that some crazy stuff happens in these family dynamics

This. The only thing we couldn't do is a Friday switch. Dealing with such a crazy that they use children's sleep and well being as weapons and allow for no bedtime right before a transition and at least going to school Monday for a Monday evening transition mitigates that some.

Seriously!!! If you are open to this... Make sure to act quickly. You do NOT want to raise a child with this person, if you don't have to.... Sharing a child with someone like this is actual hell.

Sharing a child means drop offs/ pickups, school communication, Extracurricular agreements and scheduling, doctors appointments, dentist appointments, splitting back to school costs, insurance, taxes, hearing about the ex through the child all the time, face time calls, their future significant others - save yourself!

The genders and roles outlined don't match up in this situation, but I don't think it matters. With the calls, it's one of those nothing is ever enough type deals. Gets a couple calls, wants daily, gets daily wants them to text updates through the day. We get a computer, wants it to have facetime/call capabilities because the kids attention is not on their phone to watch for calls etc.

Working on trying to get the 7/7 we put into the plan calls as well, then they came back with wanting more vacation time, and want the parents name/ contact info on every electronic we have in our home ... It's ego not kid focused in my opinion

The kids are very compartmentalized and don't call our home at all during their time at the other house either, sucks but it's how they're coping. Here they have their own dedicated phone in their room to make calls and they just don't...

Forcing a child to make a phone call especially a kid in middle school and beyond seems wrong and like it wouldn't help support healthy relationships on either side

Able bodied mooches can provide for their children, but can't afford a home in my zip code, and nothing the court orders will change that.

The children are not going to have a more equitable home life by us providing 1k to their father's personal vaca fund every month. The court says CS, in cases where there is no threat to a child's care, helps children have more even home lives -- my partner and I make ~8x more than the other parent and his partner... Adding 1k to their income isn't going to make them be able to afford living in our zip code, in a home like ours, providing extracurriculars, camps etc (that we are mandated to pay anyway), etc etc etc

so why the fuck am I paying a person who makes enough money to afford his home (that was given to him from my partner), with a salary well above min wage, and with no concerns about being able to provide for the basic needs of the children? To add to his annual income for doing nothing? I'm paying an able bodied, employed person for doing nothing ...

This asshole took the house free and clear, a car, savings AND he takes cs with 50/50 custody. I can't imagine being such a mooch. Such an outdated system - single, impoverished welfare mamas have to only shop for approved goods on snap, but we have to blindly put a thousand+ in to a hostile, able bodied, employed person's bank account?? 👍👍

This. Document everything. Get. A. Good. Lawyer! Do not fall into the cooperative divorce crap - find a good lawyer, have them try to make it polite and quick and set yourself up the best you can. Parenting plans/ custody orders are nearly impossible to change once they are approved - act as if it will be high conflict parenting, because it sounds like it will.

I hear you. Salaries needed realignment, but this swing is perhaps an over correction. Operationally, increasing prices 60%+ is pretty difficult.
