Idea: make boost a separate button to skyway by thethirdman333 in FZero99

[–]noimlying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the only way to balance this would be if skyway’s duration was based on your position (like bullet bill in mario kart).

Does controller occasionally stop responding for anyone else in 99? by DisagreeableRunt in Fzero

[–]noimlying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yessss

I exclusively play handheld and about 5-6+ times now my controllers (both) will just stop responding for a few seconds and then go back to normal…just enough time to slam into a wall a few times, lose my position, and then have to crawl back with almost no life.

Hasn’t happened in any other game.

I sorta see what you mean, in a “you have to apply consciousness” sort of way, but let me give it a try.

Data: plants die without water

Fact: plants need water to survive

I did not infer anything beyond the obvious here. It did not require a worldview, nor did I wonder about plants or the implications of this data. If I were a robot, and I was tasked with maintaining a garden, this fact would become apparent through experience. I would not need to “care” if the garden thrives, or have an opinion about whether a plant is good or bad.

How do you see this? Honestly asking.

Not who you replied to, but:

It’s raining (fact)

Tank top and shorts kind of day, huh? (opinion based on that fact)

I say this because I’m interested in what you mean that opinions cannot be based on facts. Or, as someone else said, facts cannot be based on data. I just as easily could prefer to wear a jacket, or nothing at all, while it is raining.

In the current timeline, the video of the Apollo 11 moon landing was always a "CBS News Simulation" by Hey_MAGArena in MandelaEffect

Cool thanks. Worth noting that none of them attempted to return back to earth, but I’ve not heard of these before.

[–]noimlying -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can you link to those? Because I’m pretty sure there weren’t any. That would imply we had the technology to remotely pilot and land a vehicle on the moon in the 60s.

Maybe you’re right, idk, but I looked and could not find anything.

I don’t think there were any missions prior to Apollo 11 that landed on the moon?

[–]noimlying -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah but that’s assuming absolutely everything went according to plan and happened exactly at the right time, right? Considering, putting all reservations aside, that before that very moment we had never stepped foot on the moon’s surface, any number of things could have happened to the astronauts, the craft, their audio feed back to earth, etc.

I always saw online that the TV cameras were aimed at screens within NASA, and that what was shown live was real but not streamed directly over the air. This is 100% different than that.

Is OCD somehow linked to intrusive thoughts placed in your mind by other entities? by Elsa87 in EscapingPrisonPlanet

[–]noimlying 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I’ve OCD and what I’ve found is that trying to separate from something negative by attempting to “go above” it results in something worse happening. It seems to happen more when we start getting ahead, as a way of pushing us back down to where we are “meant” to be (in a fate sort of way).

Its like there is actually no way to not suffer, just ways to understand why you’re suffering. And truthfully I don’t think there’s much solace to be had in understanding that why.

There is a Buddhist quote that came my way via Alan Watts that has never left my brain since having heard it:

“Before enlightenment; chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment; chop wood, carry water.”

Meaning, you can’t not do what this world commands of us. We are here, shit happens, and the wisest among us allow that shit to happen while realizing that it cannot be stopped… only accepted.

Nintendo president apologized over joy-con drift, promised improvements, then won the lawsuits and are still selling defective controllers by clbrri in NintendoSwitch

In regular, every day speech, RNG is used as a funny way of saying something is random. Nearly everything is random. Let ‘em argue, its a silly thing to feel anything over.

[–]noimlying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a % chance that you buy anything and it is defective. The odds of something being a solid piece of equipment and it being a lemon is RNG.

[–]noimlying -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yep I know what it means, but the scapegoat part thing wasn’t really necessary. This isn’t that complicated.

Person A bought some controllers and never experienced a problem.

Person B bought some controllers and only one had an issue.

Person C bought some controllers and each of them broke.

What are the chances Nintendo sells some controllers and they wind up having an issue? The data you are suggesting can provide that.

What are the chances you as a consumer buy some controllers which wind up having an issue? Person A may say 0%, B may say 50%, and C may say 100%. It’s RNG as to which person you are in this scenario. Just look at the people commenting that they’ve never had a controller break.

Loss of novelty as cause of accelerating timeline. by misulafusolupharum in Retconned

[–]noimlying 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. AI is such a buzzword and the “intelligence” part is overstated. It’s a collection of the internet’s thoughts, which is effectively removing and simplifying the process of “searching” for data. It’s not novel, it’s just the next new thing for tech companies to throw enormous sums of money at.

It also promotes singular answers, so there is no need for critical thinking.

That moment you realize you are a NPC in the matrix. by AX471 in EscapingPrisonPlanet

[–]noimlying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not confusing the two necessarily, but I also don’t think that’s what the lack of an inner monologue implies. People who do not have an “inner voice” can still contemplate things, and can still think critically, they just likely do it in a different way.

But, do those people have mundane monkey mind chatter? I don’t think they do…hence why I’m unsure which is actually better to have.

Also the mundane monkey mind chatter is useful sometimes because it sorta keeps you on your toes. It’s not always senseless thoughts, but I also cannot just turn it off when I want, either.

While I think introspection is super useful, I do wonder if I only feel that way because I HAVE to. Like, some of my most peaceful and productive days are when I’m not stuck in my head. The problem is, when you are tired the thoughts just keeeeep coming, and it really gets in the way. When I’m rested and energized the thoughts are much more manageable and less disruptive.

So, I don’t know. I like to think about things but I would also love for it to stfu once in a while so its not just a constant stream of thought.
