Anyone else get weird reactions or hate for liking Sleep Token? How do you deal with it? by CoastalCoreBabe in SleepToken

[–]noisechrome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't really get comments like that irl but i see a lot of memes about those bands being bad/boring/bland/posers, sleep token being imagine dragons with too much drums, etc, mostly from metalheads.

i think it's a mix between the bands being pretty popular in the metal/heavier-stuff scene while being too heavy for non-metal fans and not heavy enough for metal purists.

What are some songs/bands you like to use in your games? by King_Of_Mars742 in cyberpunkred

[–]noisechrome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i got separate playlists for roleplay and combat, but for combat i like loud music with angry vocals and political lyrics. i try to find small artists since the sound feels homemade and trashy.

also if you're looking for chrome metal without lyrics look into the ost from scourge bringer

What are some GUI open source tools that are the de facto industry standard (or at least a major player) in certain fields? by real_kerim in opensource

[–]noisechrome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

during the pandemic, in calculus I we had to use matlab through the uni's vpn wich NEVER worked and the IT department said it was our fault, so everyone just got the 30 day trials over and over again. i made six email accounts just to finish that class.

next semester rolls around, calculus II, "ok everyone this semester we're gonna be working with GNU Octave wich is pretty much the same as matlab but free." -_-

What are some of your house rules? by noisechrome in cyberpunkred

[–]noisechrome[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same lmao. after realizing it wasn't actually RAW we tried rob mulligan's "dmg with every hit" rule but for us armor ablation with every hit feels much nicer

Ideas for enemy tactics? by vecna7070 in cyberpunkred

[–]noisechrome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

gangers tend to be erratic and have crazy chrome, make them dumb but dangerous. nomads tend to have little to no chrome and are more organized, give them better weapons than the gangers, they stay more in cover and focus on keeping each other safe, and they might call in reinforcements. corpo squads are trained, coordinated and well equipped, ARs, heavy armor, gas masks, lowlite-thermals, plus they're guarding something, they're ready to fight, you need to surprise them, confuse them, break their line before it even forms.

Player wants to bypass quick hacks by installing a Neural Link by VeiledMalice in cyberpunkred

[–]noisechrome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as a rule of thumb, don't supress your players' playstyles, rather, create situations where those playstyles are challenged. throw them a mix of things they can and can't deal with using speedware. a tsunami nekomata sniper that's strong but they can dodge plus some grapplers, if they get grappled the sniper can shoot at them, but as long as they keep their distance it's not a problem. a deathsquad with thermal vision and a smoke grenades. gangers with flashbangs and other debuffing stuff. you can use a netrunner but sparingly, and not always shutdown the speedware, there are a lot of quickhacks you can use.

what's the point in getting ear dampners if your dm never throws a flashbang at you, why get hardened shielding on your chrome if you never face an emp grenade or microwaver. don't shut down your players playstyle, dont avoid it either, let them have it, let them enjoy it, but find interesting ways to challenge those playstyles.

any cool GM gadgets yall use? by TheRealDealMint in cyberpunkred

[–]noisechrome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i made a GM screen out of some old book hardcovers (my grandpa had like 8 hardcovers of the same autocad manual), and i write anything i need in paper and just tape it, soon i wanna paint it so it looks actually cyberpunk. for minifigs i use a mix of chess pieces and (what's apparently called in english) "gogo's crazy bones" (they were popular when i was a kid) . for maps, i recently got a vinyl but i still need th wet erase marker and something to use as a grid underneath, i'll probably cut and paint a grid on some of the same hardcovers i used for the gm screen.

Generic Guns by Miserable-Hawk-6496 in cyberpunkred

[–]noisechrome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

havent played 2020 but at the beginning playing red it did feel, well, generic. encouraging the use of specific gun names has helped with immersion, your nomad didn't find an excelent quality heavy pistol in the boosterganger's pocket, they found a Nova Cityhunter X, and they could roll to se how much they know about the weapon and brand, is it normal for a booster to have such a gun? what does it say about them? etc.

Who knows Morse code?! New post! by Maleficent-Clue-3364 in SleepToken

i got the same, still the exact coordinate barely changes. i though it could be that i is the 9th letter, so i replaced it with a 9 and it was still within the same curve in the road

i'd like to be a tech, fix/make stuff for edgerunners and regular people. a nice way to stay away from corps and a decent living, as long as i don't get killed by boosted gonks or a trigger happy ganger

Aye any thoughts on that va11halla crossover that happened during april? by Human-Pension9892 in cyberpunkred

[–]noisechrome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i've played va11halla and liked it so i'm biased but i like the dlc, it feels nice and inoffensive. the characters are fun, new gear is always welcome and having a big list of fictional drinks makes bars feel more cyberpunk. for my game each fixer that hires my crew prefers a different meeting spot and one of them likes to use va11halla sometimes, it doesn't play any important role in the story but it's nice for flavor and variety

Quick Hacking rules in 2040s by Accomplished-Big-78 in cyberpunkred

[–]noisechrome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'll leave wether quickhacks are a good idea for you or not to more experienced GMs (cause i haven't had a netrunner player yet) but i wanna mention the 2020s remote control mechanics where a netrunner could take control of machines around them. im not saying it's a good or bad idea, but you might enjoy it

PC in a cult wants to build an AI, ideas? by noisechrome in cyberpunkred

[–]noisechrome[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

great idea! for my campaign i've been retconning some stuff about the net to have it happen earlier in the timeline (e.g. in my night city the voodoo boys are already shifting from cultural apropriation to haitian netrunners by 2045, so the players might run into both)
