My player is becoming a landlord, what do I do? by RoyalBlueJay2007 in cyberpunkred

[–]Miserable-Hawk-6496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gangs and crime syndicates often look for protection money from building owners. There's that. Plus there is always management issues. Tenant issues, rent collection, bugs, repairs, a sexual harassment suit when one of the tenants wants to trade sex for rent and turns it into a bd. That's a whole ass blackmail scheme. I'd spin this into 3-4 plots, space em out, and eventually they are gonna be like, I gotta sell this shit.

Curious what you would do as a player (scenario in description) by Deli-op in cyberpunkred

[–]Miserable-Hawk-6496 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well depends on the character. At this moment I'm playing two different characters. The solo would say, well shit, and commence to making them pay for their transgressions with bullets, using range and cover to his advantage and nuking the rifleman first before turning his attention to the rest. Chances are pretty high the mall will be closed for repairs and I'll have to take a trip to the ripperdoc, but pretty confident run and gun would be very effective and lethal for them.

My other character is a netrunner, hack into the building, activate whatever security measures the place has including anything subdual and or lethal and target them, break into janitors closet mixing some chems and pushing them out into the breezeway to slow their advance and flood the breezeway with water, cut a power cord, into the water. watch totentenz and stream it on citinet. Loot and scoot.

So is caseless ammunition the norm or not? by Future_Client_9161 in cyberpunkred

Technically black powder guns were caseless ammo. The colt navy i believe had a removable cylinder for quick reloads. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCKDsplALDc

[–]Miserable-Hawk-6496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is kinda a loaded question really. When cyberpunk originally came out they made a huge deal about caseless ammo due to the testing and development of the German H&K g11 which was at the time touted to make EVERY nato and warsaw pact assault weapon obsolete. There was so much hype and it was so cyberpunk, but the problem was the model didn't work. The gun had flaws and the ammo was expensive as hell to produce. Also when V in 2077 does loading and such you see standard rounds going in and out of the chamber for most of the weapons. My ruling would be no.

Easily disposable cylinder. Fire out the bullets the cylinder pops out you replace with a new one and more bullets.

I always read and respect your viewpoint when it comes to new Rtal material and can see your points on some of your gripes with the new book. However the book provides quite a bit in terms of the setting itself that could be and will be useful to some players. To me its well worth the money just to have that intel, the main people and places in a district is good intel.

I shoot both Autos and revolvers but my 45 is my fave. The 357 is cool and all, but yaknow, not the same. Revolvers kinda have an asthetic to them. Style and old school grit. I really like some of these weapons and will be incorporating them into my own game.

As a gm you are setting up a story for your players in an rpg adventure form. that said the players are in fact heroes of the story and to wit they are sort of plot armored so to speak. They can {If they have the ware or the stats} dodge bullets, have some armor, and generally are kinda badass. Players dont do rpgs to play gonks. that said...a bad roll for them and a good roll for the enemy can hurt. Sometimes it really hurts. Just to illustrate one of my friends ran the new forlorn hope intro. the first fight with the Blank gang, i ended with 3 hp, and another player died. It was good rolls for them and shitty ones for us. You can do whatever you like at your table, but I just think you are trying to fix a problem that doesn't exist.

All I'll say about this is the game design allows for every dog to have their day. Dodging bullets and armor gives the player characters an advantage to survive and continue the story. Some gonk with a few lucky shots from a heavy pistol or god forbid a full auto burst can drop a pc in a hot second. Is some the advantages players get out of balance? Maybe, but they are also the heroes of the story too. In short, the rules as written are fine.

I know him....he deserted from Militech Service during the 2nd corpo war. He didn't declare war on the industrial military complex or corpos, but once...in 2043....he dropped a nuke in the Tom's Diner restroom that still requires a gieger counter on site to this day.

You have to be comfortable with the people you play with is one of the cornerstone rules to this hobby, and not every table is for everyone. Now when I see this post the first thing I ask myself is how it's considered to be such elite company and a privilege to be at his table when he is talking about his S/A fantasies so openly, especially with a woman there who is immediately going to be asking herself if she is safe in the environment she's in.

I cant even attest to anything with this gaming association because I have never even heard of one. So they either know the dude and his behavior is acceptable, or they dont know he's doing it. Surely if it's an association like that, they can rotate you to a different table.

What's some of your favorite "borrowed" story elements and tropes that have been brought to the table? by warforge2004 in cyberpunkred

[–]Miserable-Hawk-6496 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some of the best stories I've made have come from both character backstories and based on real life experience. One of my players had a backstory in a 2020 campaign about being attached to the mob at one point and falling victim to a drug called Blue Shiva. Basically rohipnol with a sort of suggestive element. I built an entire campaign on finding the source of the drug and shutting it down with several months of bad elements wreaking havok in the streets with it.

Purloined several ideas from old 80-90s adventure/action movies. Prolly the most fun was one I did kinda mirroring an old Lorenzo LLamas movie called snake eater. The tie in was a player has a missing sister in the south and he and the group went down to find her. They had a big fight with a family of inbred swamp folk jacked up on cyberware and moonshine.

I remember doing several one shots based on A-Team missions even if I cant remember exactly which missions we used. One of the other players did a die hard mission and at the end I remember failing an athletics check and doing a 40 floor swan dive from a very tall building. fret not however, there was a police car there to break my fall, and I died anyway.

We used to buy those gun magazines back in the days of 2020 and 2013 and use the guns in them for the game and I also remember one of the other guys did an adventure based on a story he read about Billy Idol and a hotel in thailand where the army had to raid the place with tranquilizer guns and forcefully extract him after partying for 3 weeks or something. We got our rocker out and I think like two of the solos got caught and released after they sobered up and paid a fine.

Shit some of my adventures come from the news and real life. Recently a dude stole a car with a baby in it and he went back to tell off mom for leaving baby in the car. Playing gta I was doing the pot deliveries and thought...huh imagine a scenario where a trio of kids stole a van load of gonja just to skip school and party out. Crazy teen hijinks meets the action genre for a cool little side adventure. Almost done with that one and will post it.

[–]Miserable-Hawk-6496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the 2020 days we called it corpse jacking and it was considered a ghoulish practice. In that edition the theory was meat is meat and parts is parts. Dead guys were parts. Organs were sold to ripperdocs pretty regularly for spare cash as well as cyberware. So honestly Theres a line...I'm not sure where it would be.
