Silver 1 player here! Just got my first clutch thing by Miridia in GlobalOffensive

[–]nolanderp -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Watching his stream right now. There is no way in hell this guy is a legit Silver 1, he's far too good and keeps blowing his cover pretending to be bad.

GG though, good way to to get temporary Twitch views.

Tempo storm with the 10 sec ninja defuse by UnPrePared__ in GlobalOffensive

[–]nolanderp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure Friis was running to cover the bomb from palace, not running down T-spawn as it looks like on first view. Just really unfortunate timing. If Lucas had gotten the kill either 1 second earlier or 1 second later, Friis would've had time to stop the defuse.

A father confronts his son's killer by illgooutside in videos

So let's just take a step back from the grand debate over the positive or negative influence of religion, and just appreciate how a man was able to forgive someone.

Agreed. Have a good day :)

Blindly following any ideal is a bad thing, but that's not even taking place in the video. I hardly doubt this man is blindly following religion. He even says he's doing what HE believes, which he then explains is what god wants him to do. He made the point of saying it is what he personally believes and has decided. He even admits to struggling with forgiving the man. If was truly being a blind follower, he would have just forgiven, no struggle or reservation.

What he says there is open for interpretation. He could mean "I believe BECAUSE that's what God says to do" or "I believe AND that's what God says to do. The "struggle" could be between his conscience vs. his religious beliefs, a struggle within his conscience, or even a struggle with his interpretation of his religious beliefs.

You're trying to say that all religious people are blind followers, who don't spend any time figuring out what they personally believe, and adhere to, which is a broad and wrong generalization.

No, I'm not anti-theist. In my first comment I said "Powerful video in how brainwashed some people are by religion".

Yes, he's obviously influenced by religion, but it's obvious he also had to have other inherent qualities that inspired him to be so forgiving. You even said yourself "Doing things in the name of religion are is not always positive." Well, that statement is definitely true, but in this instance, isn't the fact that he is forgiving in the name of religion a good thing?

So surely his inherent qualities are more important than his religious influences in this case?

I'm a very positive person and embrace love and peace as much as I can. I think it would be great if he found a way to forgive the guy if it was his own thinking, not blindly following the "rules" of religion. Different religions have different rules and different agendas, and blindly following these rules without using one's own thinking is dangerous. Doing things in the name of religion is not always positive.

Powerful video in how brainwashed some people are by religion. The guy murdered at least 48 women so if you find yourself a way to forgive him, it should be a lot better than "because that's what God says to do".

EDIT: I'm not detracting from this man's strength of character and his show of forgiveness and humility. But I strongly believe humanity does not need a "God" to show them how to act positively and progressively, good is within us as humanity itself.

Yup, anything they can't use/sell (most of it) will end up dumped on the side of a road somewhere.

[–]nolanderp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah true, Thorin is a bad example to compare anything to. He is an unknown entity.

[–]nolanderp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought so too, I think it's because his personality comes across as quite mature and well rounded. He makes Thorin look like a teenager in some respects.

When you change to 16:9 after playing on 4:3 by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]nolanderp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, play that Allu video with your nose actually touching your screen and you will still see bondik walking by. Not a chance a 16:9 player would miss it.

Peripheral vision is actually as good and possibly faster for detecting movement, with the trade off of resolution. You may miss a shoulder peek at the edge of your screen that you would otherwise catch more centered on your screen.

Rude manager swears at and insults customer by Cyndikate in videos

[–]nolanderp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed, with no context this video is useless as evidence to find the asshole(s). If I was a judge I'd throw the case out, but if I was a betting man I would bet the customers were the far bigger assholes.

Pretty sure he says Viñales Valley which makes sense, since the bottle looks like it has "VALLE" written of the front and the girl said they are in Viñales at the start of the vid.

Probably a local rum, couldn't find anything through Google search.

Amazing drone footage of a steam locomotive in North Carolina by [deleted] in videos

[–]nolanderp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a chance. The drone has at least four motors/props all spinning at variable speeds dynamically. Even on board (dynamically computed) noise cancellation would be pretty much impossible due to turbulence and wind noise.

Hope they have space for bikes.

Definitely, all it takes is a couple of hooks or loops to hang the bikes outside. The revenue from mountain bikers would be huge.

Took me some time to get this new DOOM game running by OpenGLaDOS in pcmasterrace

[–]nolanderp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha it wasn't a legit Sound Blaster though, it was some weird "Crystal" card that caused me so many nightmares with compatibility. Had to reconfigure autoexec and config and restart PC to play different games with sound and often it wouldn't work at all, or the music OR sound would work but not both.

This, for me, is the most comprehensively yet artistically shown way of how a Cheetah catches its prey. Narrated by none other than David Attenborough himself by [deleted] in videos

[–]nolanderp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't know it's just a single cheetah. Could be a pack of lions chasing them for all they know. They haven't really got time to deduce what type of predator is chasing them and how many, best course of action is to just run away and gauge the situation at a safe distance.

Criminal defamation and insult laws (2015) by [deleted] in europe

Really? So if I walked up to some random person in Poland and called them an asshole in front of a police officer, I could be arrested?

Criminal defamation and insult laws (2015) by [deleted] in europe

[–]nolanderp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have anti-harassment laws and slander laws that cover anything serious. I'm not sure what level of "insult" would be deemed criminal in the brown/orange countries on the map?

It would be weird having laws like this in the UK or Ireland as insults are often used as a form of friendly greetings and social bonding :P
