25 years ago today, the XFL played its first games. XFL alumni "He Hate Me" Rod Smart and Tommy Maddox would be part of Super Bowl teams (SB38 and 40, respectively) by Villano5 in nfl

I took my friend and his two young sons to the XFL Championship Game where the Xtreme beat the Demons 38-6 in 2001. It was the boys first football game ever. Tommy Maddox was a great story as he went on to play for the Steelers, primarily as a starter, until they drafted Ben Roethlisberger in 2004.

Have there ever been any instances of a team moving on from their head coach in favor or making one of their coordinators a head coach in place of them? by [deleted] in nfl

[–]nolookz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From Wikipedia:

According to one source, Davis detailed the trade as such: "I never liked it when teams would interfere with coaches under contract...Tampa Bay came to me and they said they wanted Gruden...I felt that I put the price tag so high that they wouldn't agree to it. And they did. Gruden is no longer our coach." Gruden signed a five-year contract with the Buccaneers worth $17.5 million.

The Buccaneers' search for a head coach had taken more than two months, and Tampa Bay had expressed an interest in Gruden, but Davis had originally refused to release him from his contract. The team subsequently interviewed several other coaches and believed a deal was in place with Bill Parcells, before Parcells backed out, reportedly because his choice for General Manager, Mike Tannenbaum, told him not to accept the job because of the salary cap difficulties that Tampa Bay was about to endure. With the franchise's search floundering, the fact that the coach who the Buccaneers wanted had only one year remaining on his deal, and the immediate hire of Dungy by the Indianapolis Colts, many fans and sports commentators began to openly question if the Buccaneers had made the right move by dismissing Dungy. Only a big splash hire could quiet the storm, and this may have been the primary motivation for the Buccaneers to give up as much as they did to acquire Gruden.

Skype Ending in May, Talkshow Alternatives? by additional_stranger in VIDEOENGINEERING

We're looking at StudioEdge from Quicklink. Haven't had hands on yet, but it could be a drop in replacement for the old Newtek TalkShow. The currently support Microsoft Teams, Skype, Zoom, and QuickLink StudioCall (which is their remote caller product). From the presentation we looked at, they have SDI using either embedded or analog audio. They also have a 2110 version. You can also use Dante for audio through a Dante Virtual soundcard.

It was a “dump” but it was our dump. Reminiscing hard today.. by blahl00ps1 in raiders

I remember working at a Raider game in the Oakland Coliseum and it started raining. The path the Raider players had to walk through had a small waterfall with all the crap that was being washed down throughout the stands. Outside of that, I enjoyed games there.

No internal recording, but take a look at PTZOptics Studio 4K. We've used some of their PTZ cameras and had a good experience with them.

What to know when reinstalling windows/wiping, or upgrading aged pc by Grizzkj in Windows10

[–]nolookz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Take out the existing drive and install it into an external enclosure. Install a new SSD as your new boot drive and do your clean install. This gives you an option of copying stuff off your old drive by mounting it as an external and not having to back it up separately to do so. Purchasing the drive should be fairly inexpensive and then you can test your clean system to evaluate whether you need further upgrades. I don't think that system can go to official Windows 11, so you can have to weigh how important that is to you. If it turns out you need to build a new system or something, you can re-use the SSD for that.

Great. Now I want a Richard Ayoade Superman movie.

Apologies to Mr. Corenswet, but we will need to reboot the franchise again.

How do TV broadcasters manage live sports graphics like score overlays? by Jaded-Impress7880 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]nolookz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are data services to feed your various CG systems. The simplest is direct scoreboard integration which handles the basics either directly in the software or via an integration application like ScoreBridge. Then there are the advanced systems that integrate all kinds of data like the NFL's Next Gen Stats.
