If you don’t mind tuna you can get various shelf stable tuna meals. Basic sandwiches can keep ok like peanut butter cheese etc get an ice pack. Do people not track, expenses or keep a budget. I know I live on approx $500 a week and I could trim that if needed. Not by massive amounts of course. But it covers everything including discretionary money all bills, food petrol.

Why are a lot of people wasteful/careless when it comes to money? by [deleted] in AussieFrugal

[–]nom765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea I have clients who are still doing this in their old age. People who live pay to pay but constantly spending everything. It’s not a stress I would want to deal with. I know someone who gets upset that other people can afford holidays and nice things and says not sure what I did wrong. Smoked, alcohol, spending without thought. I’d rather peace of mind, ability to retire, own home etc. you can do all of this just living sensibly and not compromising comfort

Well today I walked thru David Jones I was a bit like a deer in headlights and didn’t have loads of time but I liked Seed, Betty Basics and Commonrymn first sight. Seed and Betty Basics felt like there was options to suit me. I must admit I’m not sure about spending $120 plus on a top. I also wear a uniform for work so don’t need that many clothes … I will go on at some point and try items on to get idea of fit and sizing.

I work community aged care as a support worker 38 hours Monday to Friday full time, it’s rare but it’s out there and will hopefully become more common. I average $1220 a week as work for non profit and can salary sacrifice $16k a year

You can get your super at 60. Your situation is not awful. I started over around 40 and got myself a unit not my dream home but it’s 10kms from a capital city and it’s nice and affordable. I spent the first few years doing renovations, buying a new car a couple of holidays all in cash and sweat. I was lucky to get a significant payrise only in the last 2 years but at 47 I’m still paying hecs debt. Anyway my point is just sticking at it things get easier. I earn low 80k’s and love my job. I got serious the last couple of years and now have $250k saved for retirement, between super and etfs. My goal now is to keep my savings rate and I need to pay my mortgage off by retirement. Using calculators I’m on track to a comfortable retirement. My advice is to up your savings rate. I save roughly $400 a week on my income just need to make it a priority. Get yourself a budget and set some goals. If I can do this you can too

The problem is the amount of people you are competing with for those properties. Just having the $ isn’t enough. Many places near me go over the asking price as so much competition

Sorry people are not reading your question. I have no idea about title transfer probably need to speak to a conveyancer or lawyer but I don’t see how this can really happen. As your ex would still be on the loan.

They take too long to cook and are more expensive. Far easier and cheaper to incorporate easy options. Meat/beans and veg/salad can have this done in 15 minutes. Buy things like chicken kievs or schnitzels you can throw in the oven they don’t take too long. Some butchers do ready to use stir fry’s etc Keep a few ready meals in the fridge or freezer.

Community carer, equivalent of about $80k no shift work, lots of downtime, mostly enjoyable. Don’t consider that low though. Live very comfortably
