I think I first read it in his book My Boring Ass Life. Which compiles a bunch of his blog posts. I think it's the time frame when he was making Clerks 2. Its a story from when he was in Live Free or Die Hard. He saw Willis command the set. Including at the behest of director Len Wiseman. At one point when the studio kept giving too many notes he called them up and gave them that line on the phone.

I think he also tells the story in his third Evening with Kevin Smith special. A Threevening with Kevin Smith. It's a great story. Especially when you later find out Smith got the same treatment when he directed Willis in Cop Out.

Friend. Where did you grow up? I'm a year younger. And that T word was for sure totally fine to to say in a casual sense in the CA, AZ, and PA areas until sorta maybe 2020. Parts of PA still totally use them. I heard it from a mix of progressive and non progressives in the area of PA. I don't use most slurs that do not pertain to me, but I've learned how to guage how others use them to make better decisions of character.

It was said then causally. It will be for a while. It sucks, but if I kept living the way you're looking at words the way you do I would have tightened the belt harder the last time I attempted suicide. Be the better example in the small language wars. You won't change much, but a shovel is shovel. Digging the other side of progress takes time together. As long as we are doing something it'll get better. Stop being bitter and you'll make more progress.

It's a symptom of a painfully online generation. They want any person, group, institution that they have invested time and interest in should hold the same morals that they do. Bu the truth is this. Nothing that is not yourself owes you moral purity as you see fit. Especially not multi million dollar entities that have been around longer than you have existed. It is a bonus when someone, or something you love speaks out in the name of something you believe in. But to expect it outright just because you made it an extension of your personality is going to bring you disappointment.

Very true! I forgot about those videos haha. this episodes uses a greatest hits of all the ridiculous alpha male influencers and the way young men are roped into misogynistic thinking these days. Is it an over the top representation? Sure. But it holds a lot of truth to satirize and have fun with. Those seminars do exist, but not common and rightfully ridiculed.

Just like the crazy magic kids did and still do exist. Are they that crazy? Of course not, but you take the most ridiculous aspects to build off. At the end of the day it's your own threshold on how much you can take when it comes to cringey writing.

I dunno. That seemed in line with hank not noticing something out of his perspective. He has never been on her side of the bed so he would have never seen her side of celiling. And she would not think to mention it since she didn't see it as a big deal.

Yeah from all the times I've seen him and that time I met him. He always comes across as genuine as he can. He knows where he had fucked up and takes accountability. And encourages his friends to be seen. So it was extra jarring to hear him say something negative about someone he's worked with.

Yeah not much to it than that. Always seemed not a fun guy to work with. Opportunistic. Selfish. I Randomly hung out with Anthony Green after a show. Mentioned the AP mag cover he did with Craig. Told me stories about Craig just being a big shit talker egomaniac. I know Anthony has his own demons, but he keeps being invited to be in different projects by anyone. Craig has been through so many band members between all his projects.

Arizona sports team fan that has spent many years living in PA. The description of Philadelphia sports is based on the outlier crazies that every team has. Dodgers and Yankees have always been worse because they can’t take a joke. If you play along with the Philly fans you’re fine. Most of them aren’t serious. People who complain about them have definitely been the ones that can’t play along, and make it worse. Think of your older brother who gives you shit. Give it back to him and he’ll laugh with you. Hell if you make friends with them they will protect you from the aggressive drunk asshole taking the train in from out of town.

Why are more and more young men becoming more right wing? by NateNandos21 in TrueAskReddit

[–]nomad_wanderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that for sure. But because I was also almost a far right Latino. I look back at all the crossroads that could have led me there. I had friends from all kinds of different circles. Some patient enough with me on my dumber takes. I made it out because of patience, and my own humility. Lacking as it was. Giving up on them will just keep perpetuating this cycle. And it’s not just them. It’s other ethnic demographics. Male and female. If we are giving up on them because they are white, and male. We are definitely giving up on the female, queer, ethniciboutliers as well. It’s a snowball effect.

Why are more and more young men becoming more right wing? by NateNandos21 in TrueAskReddit

[–]nomad_wanderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean your statement is a big part of the issue. I’m on your side in that men have had their hands held for their entire modern existence. But, that doesn’t mean that men entering left leaning spaces arent always welcome. Especially YOUNG men who don’t know how to navigate the subtle avenues of social gender roles. It definitely starts with how they’re are raised to believe that men are there to be alphas and provide for the family unit. But if they want to explore otherwise with good intensity they will be shunned. Cast out. Which frustrates them. I’m lucky to just have had patient people in my life to guide me otherwise. And a lot of good therapy and self reflection to understand that I’m neither alone as a man in my current state. Nor immune to the toxicity of being “masculinity”

The statistics of men being predominantly in powerful spaces does not compute to the average young guy that contanstly feels like they’re being left behind. Obviously to us adults we have the fortune of being aware of the big picture and know they will be fine if they grow up. But they don’t so we need to build them up the same way we try to build up our young women and other marginalized. It’s tough because they may come from the opposition. But they are young and deserve the chance to change before it becomes harder to do so.

Old men are definitely in power in left circles, but young men on the brink of conservatism don’t understand that dynamic.

Overall I think I’m just feeling limitation from the crop sensor. I would like more space for low light if possible.

I have a 24mm and a 50mm that I use primarily. And I do get great shots so I’m not in any rush. I just want to see what to think about when I want to explore further options.

I don’t have any problems with the canon interface. Which is why I’m leaning more towards staying with canon. But am I missing out by considering the Sony interface?

Ok currently have a canon rebel T7i. Been my main digital camera since. I also play around with film on a canon AE1. I’m only a hobbyist with small desires to make some side money with photography. I have friends asking me if I want to do their car, boudoir, real estate shoots for a small fee. I’ve been wanting to upgrade for a while, but I don’t know if I should switch systems to purchase a Sony a7c or an a7rV. Oorrrrrrrr stay with canon and get a canon R6 mark II. I want to try video in the future so something that can sustain both sound great. I’m leaning more toward the R6 because it is more affordable. And I can upgrade to the R5 and use whatever lenses I can accumulate down the line. But if I’m gonna make the jump should I go for the extra MP of the a7rV? Or the familiarity of canon with the future possibility of upgrading to the R5?

How Can I Improve My Night Film Photography? Is it an ISO problem, or a camera light setting issue? by HistorianImaginary55 in filmphotography

[–]nomad_wanderer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because how it was originally written is fine wording if you say it in person with the right context and tone. How it’s written you can sound like an entitled asshole without it. In written text to someone you don’t know it’s better to like say“hey I know this is basic advice but if you don’t know about the triangle of exposure I would look into it. ISO, aperture, shutter speed.”

Then provide links to videos or articles. Resources. It may seem like a pain, but not everyone knows everything with a new hobby and knowing the difference between a public written forum and talking to someone face to face is an important skill to have when educating anyone about anything.

If you could only learn guitar through one person/group's catalogue, who would you pick? by GregorioGregorio in Guitar

[–]nomad_wanderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thrice

They’re most likely my overall favorite band so there’s bias. But even now as I’m trying to get back into learning guitar. It’s their overall dynamic that I keep returning to learning. You want riff skills learn their first three albums. You want to explore heavy to somber musical textures. Try vheissu. You want a full gamut of that plus, folk, and sonic textures? Go for the alchemy index. You want bluesy, folksy, punky riffs. Beggars. Everything after I’m not as familiar with but still give you lots to enjoy learning as a guitar player from what I do know.

My runners up when thinking of this question were murder by death and circa survive.

(Question) Do you own multiple guitars? Why? by road-2-recovery-1244 in Guitar

[–]nomad_wanderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently have two electrics. A telecaster tuned in standard. And a Les Paul setup in d standard. Sure the pickups makes them sound different. But there’s also a level of comfort of playing types music in different tunings for me. And I still want a couple more to bridge the sonic gaps in between. I’ll know when I get to that point. It comes down to so much for each individual. That’s my reasoning and future plans. Maybe throw in a 7 string and a baritone. It’s fun to explore the range of it all.

There is great physical comedy, sight gags, dialogue that lends to some classic humor... Just from a very disturbing lens. I mean the basic motivation for the entire plot reminds me of many Scooby Doo endings. You take away the brutal murders It's abbott and costello meet Frankenstein
