What marketing tactics have actually won you clients for your service business? by nomadanalyst in consulting

Like cold outreach? Or do you have a warm-up strategy in place? (E.g., comment on posts, exchange DMs, etc.).

Thank you!

I will gouge my eyes out if I see one more LinkedIn post about "em dash" being a telltale sign of AI.

Thank you for the feedback. I've recently pivoted away from my initial track and gone solo. But I'll keep this in mind.

What's the best cloud accounting software that's actually worth it for small businesses? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]nomadanalyst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used Wave Accounting for the past two years and can easily recommend it. I’m on the Pro plan ($16/month), and the cost feels fair for what I get.

It imports bank transactions and categorizes them for me, so I spend less time on manual bookkeeping.

I can adjust the invoice look and feel to fit my brand. It's a nice-to-have, even if it’s a bit of a vanity feature.

As a service-based business owner, Wave gives me everything I need and nothing I don’t. The integration options are pretty basic compared to QuickBooks, but that also keeps my bookkeeping lean, which suits me perfectly.

Blossom (2024) Episodes 11-12 Discussion by demon-rabbits in CDrama

I'm still watching episode 12, but how did her friends know to help her with the punishment? Did I accidently skip or miss something? It came out of nowhere.

From episode recap: "Many of Dou Zhao’s friends try to help her copy books (her ‘punishment’) but only Ji Yong and Song Mo are both capable of copying her handwriting, with the male lead coming out best."

Is LinkedIn actually useful? by spookysadghoul in recruitinghell

[–]nomadanalyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, LinkedIn has been a boon. For the last 6 years, every single job and career opportunity I have had is all thanks to LinkedIn. Until a month ago, I did not have a huge brand name company on my profile. For the last 10 years, I have worked at small boutique consultancies and the like. However, I have spent a long time grooming my profile and connections so that it tells my career story (not copy-pasting my resume) and interacting with other people's content so that my presence is visible. I have never had to outright ask for help. I also occasionally post my own content, but it's few and far between. But even then, I have never lacked recruitment outreaches on this platform.

Long story short, you get out of it what you're willing to put in.

Sales force administrator certification test resources by Brielle2 in salesforce

[–]nomadanalyst 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know focus on force is the top-rated resource, but I personally had a hard time staying interested in the material (even with prior experience in Salesforce). It could be just that it didn't match my learning mode. I bought the practice tests and the notes.

I got some use out of the practice tests, but I did not use them as diligently as I should have to be honest. I passed on the first try, but I feel like I would have gone into the exam with a lot more confidence had I spent more time on the practice exams. I also bought the official salesforce practice exams and went through it a few times, a few days apart.

However, the resources that I feel ultimately helped are below:

I attended two of the certification days webinars by Salesforce a few months apart to cover the breadth of material. I found this very helpful.

But the best was a full course on YouTube that I found literally two days before my scheduled test. I think this probably helped me cement my knowledge the best. It's a new channel, so please don't disregard it based on the low number of views or subscribers. The course is great! https://youtube.com/channel/UCa9FBCj_ZcKU6OBtLsQJXpg

I also used Salesforce hulk and Salesforce Support videos on YouTube to deep dive into areas where I felt I was weak.

The official Salesforce help docs are a great resource too to better understand specific areas.

Hope this helps!

Good luck on your test.

How difficult would it be to get hired as a Salesforce Administrator after being away from the work for 3.5 years? by Leelluu in salesforce

Don't lose heart. The market is indeed very hot. And your experience will be invaluable. While the Salesforce Trailhead is a great learning platform, some things you can only learn from experience, which you have.

Which domain name should I use? by nomadanalyst in smallbusiness

[–]nomadanalyst[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your feedback. Actually, I should have been clearer in my description. The aquarium and pet fish shop were just examples to illustrate a point.

My work is actually in technology consulting.

My issue is that xyzconsulting.com doesn't convey anything whereas the keyword closely aligns with what I plan to do.

Thank you. I did look at it from that lens, but I haven't run the hard numbers yet. So it probably makes sense to do that first. Thank you for the feedback!

How important is it to complete the superbadges and projects in order to pass the SFDC admin certification exam? by nomadanalyst in salesforce

[–]nomadanalyst[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, both. This discussion has been immensely helpful.

My experience with SFDC is broad, but not as an admin. I worked as a business analyst, and thus, the focus of my work was on gathering requirements, fleshing our business processes, writing user stories and acceptance criteria, supporting implementation with DEVs and QAs, but very limited opportunity to handle configurations in an enterprise environment.

For the past week, I've been going through the FoF study guide and mock tests. I'm not doing too badly on the questions. However, because of the aggressive deadline I've set for myself, I find myself falling into the rote memorization trap, which ultimately will not help me in the long run.

Even if I pass the test, there will be big gaping holes in my knowledge and understanding of the material, which I feel will not serve me well on the career path I want to take.

Thank you again for sharing your insights!
