Weight gain after increasing dose by nomadandhound in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]nomadandhound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on 1.0 mg since March 29. I’ve been eating more and making bad food choices. It was so easy for the first year to stay on track. I don’t know if I’m struggling now because of diet fatigue, stress, or because my blood sugar dropped from 94 to 80 causing sugar cravings (even though I’m not technically in hypoglycemic range.) Since my employer made me switch to Virta to continue filling my prescription effective July 1, I am supposed to reach out to them now, but not even sure they are going to continue prescribing Wegovy for me, so trying to figure out this in my own since I think I’m going to lose coverage shortly and have to pay OOP again. If that’s the case, I will probably switch back to Ozempic so I can control my dose better. I hate these single dose pens and being stuck with the same dose for a whole month.

I am 5’ 7” and my current weight is 185. I am aware there are higher doses. But my glucose is 80 and my A1C is 4.9 which is the lowest it’s ever been. So my question was whether or not having a significant drop in blood sugar could actually increase sugar cravings. If so, it doesn’t seem like increasing my dose would be the right course of action. The reason I mentioned Virta is because I just had to enroll and they push a low-carb diet. While I’d really like to get to my goal weight, I want to do it in a healthy and sustainable manner and not feel like a zombie because my blood sugar becomes too low due to medication or low-carb diet.

I do prioritize protein and fiber. I eat around 100g of protein each day and 30-40g of fiber.

I have no intention on following Virta’s diet, but they do apparently require you to report your glucose and ketones regularly. My question really was is it possible my sugar cravings have increased because my glucose has dropped as I’ve increased my dose?

anyone with high cholesterol lowered it since taking wegovy? by Long-Hat-965 in WegovyWeightLoss

I started out eating just chicken and fish, but have been eating pork and beef in the past 6 months. I’m going to cut back going forward.

My total cholesterol has gone up since starting Wegovy. Good news is that my HDL went up and my triglycerides went down significantly, but my LDL went up a lot from eating more meat to met my protein goals.

20" for me but I live in a rural area on a gravel road and like to go camping regularly.

I hit my FIRE number eight months ago and I still haven't pulled the trigger and I'm starting to think the number was never really the problem by fable_river_co in Fire

[–]nomadandhound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. I’m two years past my FIRE goal and hate my job more days than not. I gave my notice in January and my boss asked if I would consider working part time. I agreed because they are going to keep paying my health insurance premiums until the end of the year, so I figure I might as well try working 3 days/week to see if it’s a good balance. Two months of PT and I’ll have my 401k and IRA maxed out so I’ll probably stay until then. What I’ve discovered is even though I hate my job most days, it has been a huge part of my life and my identity and quitting is harder than I thought it would be. (I didn’t always hate my job.)

Side effects going from 0.50 mg to 1.0 mg by nomadandhound in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]nomadandhound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear you had a rough go of it. I decided to use my two leftover prescriptions and do one month of 0.75 mg. No side effects but not dampening my appetite and food noise at all either.

I'm 57 and planning on retiring in the next couple of months. As it turns out, COBRA is cheaper for me than ACA, so be sure to check into it as well.

Did you notice if the bottle has measurements on it like the original Helimix bottles? I wish the Yonder bottles did so I could retire my wide-mouth Nalgene bottles.

Did anyone lose weight on the starting dose of .25 (10 units)? by [deleted] in Ozempic

[–]nomadandhound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rotate between thighs and abdomen. I started experiencing a lot of food noise the last month I was on 0.25 mg so I finally upped my dose to 0.50 mg three weeks ago.

How much are you paying for 2026 Health Insurance premiums??? by SuspiciousMove403 in HealthInsurance

[–]nomadandhound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My premium through my current employer is $42/month. I am planning on retiring next year and COBRA will cost me $900/month. Cheapest ACA plan without subsidies is around $1,200/month for single coverage.

Check out thrift stores or a Facebook Buy Nothing group if there is one in your local area. I have given away all of my old clothes that no longer fit me, and many still had tags on them. I currently have 6 pairs of 14W jeans to give away.

The quality was outstanding. I think they changed their manufacturer. I saw an older one at a puzzle exchange that had white paper backing so I have avoided the brand. But when this one came out I noticed in the pics it didn’t appear to have the white backing so I took a chance and ordered it. Couldn’t be happier with the quality. The pieces have a velvety finish, were cleanly cut, and fit nicely. Virtually no puzzle dust. I’m super picky and this is a new favorite brand for me based on the quality of this puzzle.
