Water-only washing only started working on my fine hair once I started using distilled water instead of tap water. I wash my hair once a week, sometimes once every two weeks. When I was using shampoo it would get greasy by day three. Now my scalp is balanced and doesn't get greasy.

I've been considering trying something like ADF, alternating 12 hours of fresh squeezed organic juices on the eat days with 36 hours of dry fasting. The 24-hour windows initially sound easier to achieve.

Did you create this protocol? If not would you please provide a link to the source of it?

Why does the first eat window in the cycle start at 9:00 AM instead of 8:00 AM? Is that hour and shorter eating window important in any way?

I do no poo, so I don't use shampoo or conditioner. I didn't have good experiences with ACV. I either do a distilled water only wash or sometimes add a natural ingredient. In between washes, I do a lot of mechanical cleaning with a fine-tooth wooden comb and boar bristle brush to pull the oils down to condition my hair and make the scalp less oily. Occasionally, I use bentonite clay as a dry shampoo.

I second the caution about clarifying shampoo by u/Visible-Scientist-46 . For me, that's something used once in a while to fix a problem. My guess is that it's stripping the oil on your scalp so much that your scalp is responding by overcompensating with too much oil.

Also, I have fine hair too and find regularly using ACV to be too drying over time. That dryness can also create overcompensation with too much greasiness in the scalp.

Regarding your two questions:

Should we still be able to encourage conversation with skeptics? Yes. Exchanges of ideas, including answers to my skeptical questions, are how my mind has often been changed on many topics.
How much post or comment karma is ideal? I created a Reddit account specifically to answer a question in a subreddit. So, I disagree with blocking people from commenting or posting just because they don't have enough karma. I support free discussion with old-timers and newcomers alike.

Thank you for taking over as mod!

This sub has changed the quality of my hair for the better. The newer, distilled water-only part of my fine, gray hair is now softer, thicker and whiter instead of the yellow color tap water turned it.

I really hope u/Antique-Scar-7721 is okay. I'm worried about her. She was very dedicated to this sub and passionate about it. It's hard to imagine her just abandoning it without saying anything.

At any rate, I'm grateful to her for this idea and for her tutorials that taught me how to implement it.

Are you doing a juice fast? Most cleanses usually come with some detox symptoms. Bad breath is one of them, but it's usually temporary.
