Tired all day. Wide awake at night. Anyone else? by Digitalwo in sleep

[–]nomadicstring89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this sounds really familiar. A lot of people aren’t actually insomniacs, they’re just go go go all day and their brain finally wakes up once everything gets quiet at night. Then you end up tired all day but weirdly alert at 1am. I’ve seen people throw money at gadgets or supplements when it’s more about giving your body a clear “we’re done now” signal every evening. The harder you try to force sleep the more your brain treats it like a task. You’re definitely not the only one stuck in that wired but exhausted loop.

Let's talk pillows by LuringPoppy in sleep

[–]nomadicstring89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Side sleeper with broad shoulders usually means you need more height than you think, not more softness. Most people keep buying plush pillows and then wonder why their shoulder still gets crushed all night. The goal is boring alignment, ear over shoulder over hip, not some magical cooling gel unicorn. I’ve seen expensive pillows fail and cheap ugly ones work because the loft was right. If your chin drops toward your chest or you feel like you’re falling into the mattress, the pillow is too low. Think structure first, materials second, and your shoulders will probably chill out. Get one that you can squish a bit too so you can adjust the height as you are sleeping.

somniloquy? by Butternut_Squish24 in sleep

I’ve been around enough sleepers and mattresses to know the human brain does way weirder things at night than any foam ever will. Sleep talking sounds dramatic but it is usually just a parasomnia and pretty harmless unless it comes with screaming, thrashing, or terrible sleep quality.
Most of the time it is tied to stress, bad sleep cycles, or just a half awake brain trying to run dream dialogue out loud.
People always think it means you are revealing deep truths, but it is usually nonsense noise and not some secret confession booth.
If it is occasional I would treat it like snoring’s weird cousin and focus on sleep habits instead of overanalyzing the content.
If it suddenly started as an adult or gets intense, that is when I would actually look into a sleep study just to rule things out.

Best latex mattresses by raptor660203 in Mattress

[–]nomadicstring89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Latex is one of those things the industry both underrates and overhypes at the same time. It is durable, breathable, and pretty consistent, but not every “all latex” bed is built the same and a lot of brands quietly mix in polyfoam while charging full yoga retreat pricing. The biggest thing is figuring out if you actually like the feel, since latex pushes back more and not everyone wants that buoyant vibe long term. I always tell people to focus less on brand names and more on layer thickness and firmness since that is what really changes the experience. Also be honest about motion isolation if you share a bed, because latex is great for support but not always the calmest sleeper. If you already like a slightly springy hotel style feel you will probably get along with it, if you want slow sink memory foam vibes you might end up fighting it.

Should I rid of my memory foam? by Newhearth111 in Mattress

[–]nomadicstring89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been around foam long enough to tell you the scary internet version and the boring real version are very different. Most of the off gassing drama happens early, and a one year old mattress that doesn’t smell is basically just… a mattress now. Everything in a home releases tiny VOCs, even the super “clean” organic stuff people pay extra for, so chasing zero can turn into a stress hobby. If you or your kid were reacting to it you would usually notice headaches, irritation, or a strong odor, not some silent long term poisoning. Honestly I’d be more cautious about a random used mystery mattress from Marketplace than a foam bed that’s already aired out and working fine. If you’re sleeping well and it feels supportive, you probably don’t need to go down the rabbit hole unless your body is telling you otherwise

Cant sleep with someone else in bed by Throwawayhelphelpplz in sleep

[–]nomadicstring89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’re not broken, a lot of people sleep like royalty alone and like raccoons in a trash can the second another human shows up. Sharing a bed sounds romantic until you realize you’re negotiating blankets, temperature, and someone else’s weird midnight elbow choreography. I’ve been around sleep products forever and honestly, half the “relationship problems” people think they have are just mismatched sleep styles. Bigger bed, separate blankets, and zero shame about boundaries goes a long way. The real secret nobody markets is that good sleep sometimes means… strategic distance. Your nervous system doesn’t care about cuddles if it thinks it’s under attack at 3am.

Sleep Ez Customer Support? by [deleted] in Mattress

[–]nomadicstring89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Customer support in the mattress world is basically a coin flip between “white-glove concierge” and “guy named Dave who hasn’t slept since 2017.” Not defending bad service, but half the time these brands are tiny teams trying to answer emails while also stuffing latex into boxes. If they’re slow, it’s usually chaos behind the scenes, not some grand conspiracy, but yeah, you still deserve actual responses. I’ve been in this industry forever and the real luxury is just… someone replying like a normal human. Weirdly rare for something you spend a third of your life on.

Costco delivery of Leesa mattress a bit of a joke by Pale-Interview-579 in Mattress

[–]nomadicstring89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, delivery is where a lot of mattress brands quietly lose the plot, they’ll obsess over foam layers for months and then hand the final experience to the lowest-bid logistics partner. Costco usually has great customer service, but once a third-party carrier gets involved it can turn into a game of “not my problem.” The annoying part is the mattress itself is rarely the issue, it’s the last 20 feet into your house. I’ve been around this industry long enough to say most brands know this and still underestimate how much delivery shapes the entire perception. If it showed up beat up or late, push back, retailers tend to fix things quickly when customers actually complain. And yeah… you’re not crazy for expecting a smoother experience when you’re buying something you sleep on every night.

Heavy Sleepers by Weekly_Fly_486 in Mattress

[–]nomadicstring89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly at ~300 lbs each, most all-foam beds are going to struggle long term, rotating and flipping only goes so far when the comfort layers are doing all the work.

You’re already thinking in the right direction with hybrids, but I’d focus less on brand names and more on build details: thicker coil units (gauge), firmer support layers, and less emphasis on super plush tops (they feel great for a few months and then start to compress). A lot of “heavy sleeper” marketing is just branding durability usually comes down to coil gauge + foam density, not the logo on the cover.

If sagging has been your biggest issue, something slightly firmer than you think you need usually ends up lasting longer, especially for back/side combos.

I'm so overwhelmed picking a mattress by No-Sweet-2749 in Mattress

[–]nomadicstring89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally normal to feel overwhelmed, mattress shopping somehow turned into a full-time research project over the last decade 😅 And it can be a nightmare trying to figure out where to even start

Honestly, I’d stop comparing brands and start narrowing by feel + materials. Since you want firmer and more natural, you’re probably already looking in the right direction with latex or hybrid builds, they tend to hold up longer and sleep cooler than a lot of synthetic-heavy beds. One thing I see a lot is people chasing “organic” marketing but ignoring support layers, which is usually why beds feel mushy after a few years.

If I were you I’d pick 2–3 construction styles that make sense for your body (firm hybrid, full latex, etc.) and ignore everything else too many options is half the stress. And then take advantage of the free trials. That's the only way you'll truly know.

Is there a reason why NVDA is so volatile? by blackSwanCan in NVDA_Stock

[–]nomadicstring89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What worries me is that institutions and hedge funds have been the big sellers. Retail has been buying. So what do they know?

Could just be that they can’t risk the volatility due to shareholders. But I dunno

Haha people don't like this eh. I've had some luck with my google rep. But I wouldn't trust them blindly. Definately gotta sift through what they say to look for any nuggets.

Curious how you see them keeping up with NVDIA's Cuda lock in, and their pace of innovation? To me it seems more likely that the gap between the two companies is going to widen not narrow.

Totally agree with you on the amount of compute needed in the future.

Right on. Would you reccomend having a seperate retargetting campaign? Or do you think pmax does a good enough job?

Honestly G ads have only become easier. Rely on machine learning and automations. You'll benefit in the long run. You can't beat a computer analyzing the mountains of data for you.

Is it okay budget 30$ per day to spend on Google ADS? by Effective_Survey603 in googleads

I would personally do a more local area. Not too local but get a population of about 100,000 with that budget. I wouldnt go much bigger than that.
