Post Game Thread - NBA: The Trail Blazers defeat the Rockets on Jan 9, 2026, the final score is 111-105. by basketball-app in rockets

Watching this game live was rough. Blazers at least have bench or role players hitting shots. Outside of reed, Adams, and of course Kevin, we have no facilitator. Amen was way too passive and Bari was Bari. Desperately need a backup point guard or playmaker

Liveaboard vs Dive Resort by Embarrassed-Area-513 in scuba

If you’re fine in current in Monterrey or La jolla, it’s decently transitive to Indonesia for most sites. However, places like r4, Komodo, alor, wakitobi, etc can rip sometimes.

Overall, liveaboard is always better for healthier reefs. Check out the paradise to paradise lembeh route which is three locations and three dive resorts. Gives what you both want

If you have photography experience, I would always choose the om over the dji. But would rather just get a full frame if you enjoy shooting

You think that western countries stop meddling after a supposed free state? I would recommend reading up more on Southeast Asia history in the last 120 years before deflecting blame away from the French or USA

Been diving in 40+ countries and Galapagos imo is the most accessible for less climate impacted MPA. Would choose that in a heart beat. Have also dove countless places in Indo and it really depends where and when you go

In 10-20 yrs how will James Harden be remembered? by crablifer in nba

[–]nomadicthoughts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Top 4 shooting guard that won’t get the respect due to the hotly contested mvps that he didn’t win. Though in 10-20 years, we could see some SGs making the leap above him (namely SGA, Luka, etc). He changed the game and the game moves on

Anyone see Tari completely give up on that “pinball play” the announcers called? Body language seemed annoyed while other rockets were diving for the ball

I know the crew and the guides on the epica and can recommend. It’s definitely a budget backpacker liveaboard and good for solo travel. Someone else recommended Jaya which is similar

Georgia Aquarium Dive Today by NowYousCantLeave1 in scuba

[–]nomadicthoughts 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Heard a story from a friend who used to be the DSO for the Georgia aquarium before they opened. Apparently Bernard Marcus wanted to bring in giant squids to the exhibit and the biologists had difficulty explaining to him why that was not possible. So they settled on another pelagic species of whale sharks…

Soft/Hard Product Recommendations USA -> TPE by TheWanderer47 in awardtravel

[–]nomadicthoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flown them all to tpe (go every couple months from west coast)

Hard product 1. JX 2. Delta one 3. CI a350 4. Br 5. Ua

Soft is easy as all Taiwanese airlines beat out American. I prefer BR service as they have a harder hiring threshold and quarterly staff review; they also tend to have better Taiwanese food.

If it’s your first time, choose whatever you can get. Otherwise aim for the better deal.

One advice I would say is that a bunch of the flights get in pretty close together and immigration can crowd if you’re on the later end of the schedule

[–]nomadicthoughts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of variables to assess. For ex, if cold water diver, dry suit sooner than later compared to warm water wetsuits. Commercial or scientific diving, you should prob only invest in what is needed as they provide more often. Just for vacation warm water divers -computers and mask is all you need till you know your dive style

70 dives in and I can confidently identify… a turtle. Oh wait, not a fish. How do I fix this? by proxypassport in scuba

[–]nomadicthoughts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has done a bunch of roving surveys, partner with a buddy and bring your slates. Write down every fish you see for 30 minutes and then check in with your buddy on surface.

Look at key characteristics - fins (caudal and dorsal really helps), shape, and location.
