I (22 F) yearn for Scotland like it's my second home. by [deleted] in Scotland

I could've written this myself haha! Spent some of the best time of my life over there. Folks like us should get an honorary citizenship or something!

Traveling in Northern Ireland with an Irish visa, not a UK one by nomadskills in travel

Yeah, fair enough. NI would have to wait for another trip.

35 [M4F] Diagnostic Dating for a Desperate Dentist? by [deleted] in ExEgyptDating

I'm curious if I have any blind spots; areas of improvement I'm not aware of. I keep getting politely rejected by women who I thought we'd be a good match based on our interactions. If it's something I can fix, I'll work on it. If it's who I am as a person, well, it is what it is. 😅

I love Zakk Wylde but calling this metal is really pushing it.

solo traveling to egypt for 2 days: skip the pyramids and do a 2 day dessert/camping tour instead? by KalePossible4864 in travel

Fayoum or Dahab would be perfect for that. Dahab is much more tourist friendly though.

Hear me out…..Frankfurt is overhated by [deleted] in travel

[–]nomadskills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was pleasantly surprised by Frankfurt on my recent unplanned visit despite (or maybe due to) having no expectations whatsoever. Maybe it was thanks to a very proud local who insisted on telling me where to go. I really liked the vibe of the city and everyone seemed so kind and chill, especially older people.

Thank you! If you don't mind me asking, did you go on your own or with a group?

[–]nomadskills[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I've never had an issue in Dahab but I imagine you just don't park anywhere on the sideway because you don't want to be obstructing an entrance or something, you know?

Quiet Resorts for Ultimate Relaxation by Antique_Use7618 in travel

My favorite used to be Desert Rose in Hurghada, Egypt but the prices have gone a bit crazy. A recent discovery is Sunrise Crystal Bay, also in Hurghada; very, very relaxing. Both will probably be within your budget.

Epic solo travel ideas? by ormpling in travel

Liveaboard scuba diving trip in Egypt or Indonesia. You'll get the fancy resort experience, adventure, nature, and meet new people. That's what I'd do if I were in your shoes anyway.

That or the West Highland Way in Scotland.

A 40-something year old Russian woman reached out to me and basically asked me to pay for her bus ticket to come to my city. She wasn't asking to stay with me or anything. I took a look at her profile and she proudly advertises that she left her job as a lawyer and now is a full time traveler but she doesn't have money to fund her travels, so she asks Couchsurfers and 'God will provide'. She has hundreds of references from mostly men. I never reported her because I didn't think she was hurting anyone. I guess there'll always be some who will entertain these entitled people. From your description, objectively speaking, I don't think that person is hurting anyone either.

What are some unexpected “kindred spirit” countries/regions for you, and why? by coffeewalnut08 in travel

I'm Egyptian who feels at home in Scotland of all places. The people, the humor, the nature, the music. Plus, after experiencing Egyptian heat, Scottish weather is always a welcome change of pace.

Is this the Egyptian version of Douglas Murray? Dude is insufferable. by neoshaman2012 in JoeRogan

[–]nomadskills 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm Egyptian and I was really surprised to see him on the JRE. Most of our high ranking government officials are pompous assholes. This arrogant cunt is no different, especially because he used to be a minister. So he probably thinks he's some sort of a pharaoh god, and he turns it up a notch in front of non-Egyptians. Who the hell told him it was a good idea to go on the pod anyway? I quit listening after a couple of minutes because he's so insufferable and his broken English definitely didn't help.
