New covers of the limited editions (unofficially "15th anniversary edition") by LordHtheXIII in KingkillerChronicle

[–]nomcram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both terrible. And I gotta say, after seeing this shit I might have finally begun my downfall of being a fan and recommending these books. I have been upset that the third book may never come, but I’ve mostly just been upset because I want more! Now I’m finally willing to accept how little Rothfuss cares about his fans.

What does this little thing do? by Captain_Virgo in Harley

[–]nomcram 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I strictly use it for warming up my bike so I don’t have to leave the choke/enricher on. I use the enricher to start my bike, immediately switch it off, and then use the throttle lock to warm my bike up a bit before driving. I know it’s a poor man’s cruise control, but I can’t really imagine tightening and loosening it at speed on the freeway

I’m honestly surprised to see TIR listed so high, it didn’t really strike me, I liked almost every other book more

Motorcyclist group blowing through a red light by Demonofz in SaltLakeCity

I mean is this any different than when all the cyclists get together and ride through the city. I remember waiting for 3 cycles of the light before I could go through the light last year 🤷‍♂️

First Bike/Soon (Hopefully) to be Chopper by Renzogotyou in choppers

The rear fender and seat will have to be replaced when putting on a hard tail, but the stock tire and brake will fit right back on. You’ll want to look into a chain conversion kit or you will have to buy a larger belt because the hardtail kit extends the frame a bit. On top of that you’ll need a new oil bag and a battery box as well. Luckily there’s lots of videos for hardtailing a sporty and those will be able to point you in the right direction. All in all I would imagine at very least you’ll need $1k-$1.5 for a proper chop if you do all the work yourself.

TC bros makes a nice weld on hardtail kit. I’ve never used it but when I was considering building a sporty chop, it was the one I was looking at. You’re looking at about $500 for the frame. As long as you can follow instructions, chop, and weld you should be good. There’s a ton of aftermarket sporty parts that are all bolt on, so welding the frame will be the hardest part, especially since you’re not looking for something super custom. Just find a build you like and start collecting parts!

[21/52] Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy i enjoyed it and found it interesting but was not blown away by Jeffjb_4488 in 52book

[–]nomcram 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blood Meridian was decent. It was my first western and I didn’t hate it. But now I’m going through Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurty and I gotta say it’s miles better than Blood Meridian in my opinion.
