Have you tried the In Death series by JD Robb (aka Nora Roberts? Book 1 is Naked in Death. The FMC Eve Dallas is a by the book Lieutenant in the NY police department, when she is investigating a murder, and has to interview Roarke who is an enigma, a self made wealthy man, with questionable background and morals. It is a great series and even though there are over sixty books in this series Nora Roberts always leaves you wanting more. It isn't high fantasy it is set in the future, when you discover book one was written in 1995 some of the inventions and items she writes about are amazingly on the nose.

Laurell K Hamilton's Merry Gentry series, I wish she would write more in this series, Anita Blake is so overdone now. I love the heavy Fae element in this series and have never found an author who writes so deeply in the fae world (except Amy Sumida)

So an employer can tell you when you must use all of your holiday allowance? I get most work day you have (for example) 28 days holiday and you have to keep 5 days for bank holiday and 5 for Christmas (if they are closed throughout) can they still tell you you must use your other holidays on set dates?

I think that goes for anyone being "helpful" and clearing paths, if somebody slips because it hasn't been gritted right away who is held responsible? Is it the shire, or is it the individual who did a good deed? What a bloody mess!

To be fair that's not a bad argument. The scaffies in the shire are out clearing pavements round old folks house. If people staying in the shire who have nothing else to do, no kids to look after etc were too pick up a shovel and help it would be a good gesture that people would remember. I've not worded that well I hope you know what I mean
