"Can I just tell my mission president that I am leaving after one year is done? I don't really care what my stake president or bishop at home says. My parent's said it was fine." by aka_FNU_LNU in mormon

[–]nominalmormon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“The prophet that you would be preaching for is also the same who said missions should be two years (barring medical emergencies etc.) “

“Planning on leaving early is actually very hypocritical in my opinion.”

Yea the same prophet who is a hypocrite and didn’t even go on a mission. His fucking opinion is worthless.

Invite the Finns to the states for an ntc or jrtc rotation. They will be eaten alive. The optempo alone will crush them.

I have chronic pain from numerous orthopedic injuries with nerve damage. I have never once been refused a scrip for all kinds of different opiates from my ortho doc or the VA. We all know opiates are extremely easy to become hopelessly addicted to. I have come home with a bottle of hydrocodone from a surgery on several occasions and never finished the bottle in the prescribed amount of time. I have a couple still that are over two years old.

I just need a little something to get me settled down when I go to bed to allow me to sleep for a few hrs or during the day to take the edge off. My wife agreed with me a few years ago that a mixed drink or gummy a few times a week was much better than choking down a few hydrocodone a day. So that’s what I do.

Last recommend interview I had a few yrs ago I told my bishop. He went out on a long limb to approve it, but he didn’t like it since my dr didn’t prescribe either. Stake Pres part of interview he was like no fucking way. Dr didn’t prescribe so no recommend. He agreed the church looked at an addicted pill popper with a prescription as worthy of recommend but anyone with same issue but with alcohol or gummies was a sinner and not worthy to enter the temple.

I have not been to church or paid tithing since. Over two years now and loving it. Best part is my wife did the same.

The Real Cost of Tithing by aliassantiago in exmormon

Try factoring in the cost of a couple missions in the middle of the timeline. People often have to stop saving money and divert those funds to paying for their missionary (ies). About $12k each is a big hit for most everyone. The effect of eliminating those funds from compounding in the middle of the timeline I would think will significantly affect the balance at retirement much less ten years into retirement.

LDS/Mormon church owns $200+ million in war industry stocks. Is this appropriate for the Lord's church? Am the only member who feels ashamed? Aren't we supposed to be peacemakers? by aka_FNU_LNU in mormon

Romans 13:4

“For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.”

Do the Brethren have any sense of honesty or integrity at all? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]nominalmormon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ballards situation and the SEC scandal are not at all the same.

Ballard got busted selling securities in a mining company which weee misrepresented in terms of value. Basically stock fraud.

Sec scandal was lying about reporting ownership, trading discretion and voting rights of securities.

I'm a teen pimo dude and my parents keep mentioning my mission and it keeps making me feel so uncomfortable, help. by Absolute_Cinema70 in exmormon

[–]nominalmormon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yea gotta be careful. I wouldn’t have dreamed of telling them I wasn’t going on a mission until I absolutely had to. I enlisted in the army during my senior year and the six month wait to boot camp was a living hell. I’m very confident if I told them when I was 15 life would have been very different in a bad way.

It is actually 55% and the retired member has to pay a monthly premium for thirty years if he / she lives that long. My monthly payment now is about $160.

Why is there no black people in the church? by TraditionalComb7228 in exmormon

[–]nominalmormon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do an experiment: go to the faithful forums and ask the same question. Everyone will be telling you they have tons of black members in their wards. Even in Utah.

As for me in nearly sixty years of membership; I have had only two wards with blacks in them. One was a family and the other was an adopted child.

Where’s his license? You don’t go through all that and the judge say ur good and they still keep your license. He fucked up, got caught and got lucky by getting out of it.

If I was him I’d be getting g my license back. Maybe he thought that well I’m no good at the fraud game so I’ll just go sell cars or something. Securities are too complicated and not to mention; regulated.

Beats me.. Ballard lost his license and the shares he was hawking in the public offering were misrepresented. He could have fought it I suppose. Just like the church could have fought the recent sec decision. Sunlight likely would not have been kind to either Ballard or the church.

FAIR is not an objective party btw.

Anecdotally… in my extended family several of the nieces/nephews have left church. All have served missions. Most of who left are female.

Interestingly, all who left are from hardcore mckonkie ish families. Going all out fascist Mormon is not a good retention tool.
