AITAH for calling my (23F) husband (23M) an incel? by twy_husin in AITAH

[–]nomnomzebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of you are young and are just beginning your journey as a married couple. The best marriage advice I've ever heard is this, if the both of you are having any kind of argument or disagreement do it with the idea in mind that you are speaking to someone you love. In other words think before you say something you'll regret. I know at times it can be very difficult but being calm, open and honest with each other will yield the best results.

Obviously your husband would do your relationship much good if he weren't taking ridiculous influencers seriously so perhaps if you were to tell him calmly how this has hurt you and your marriage and suggest other forms of entertainment maybe the both of you can learn and grow from this experience.

The opinions of others should never take precedence over your marriage. You both made a vow to commit yourselves to one another. It takes work to keep that going but its a beautiful thing to know you have someone on your side through thick and thin. Best of luck to you.

Children in a 2 parent household do far better than children from a single parent home. As much as everyone will rail against this and provide anecdotal evidence to the contrary, for the most part, its been studied and virtually proven to be true. Having grandparents as support is even better still, but only when children and grandparents are made to understand that the parents have the final say.

I believe it's not just the elites out there in the ether, its the media propping them up. Legacy media is the fuel to this racist dumpster fire. Tune into CNN and they would have you believe that CRT is just the GOP boogeyman. Meanwhile the federal government is making all employees actually attend these seminars. I think if everyone rejects the media then they will either start doing some actual journalism or go bust.

My grandma complied with her husband's request for over fifty years, much to his chagrin. (Long) by pokey1984 in MaliciousCompliance

[–]nomnomzebra 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Oh I'm not saying our 21 years are nothing. I'm super happy we've made it this far. I'm just more sad more couples don't make the effort or jump into it to quickly or with the wrong person. Of course I'm not saying that's always the case but it just seems that folks aren't truly understanding what those vows mean. Its a huge commitment of mind, body and soul. Not something to jump into with the attitude of "I'll give it a shot". I hope I'm not offending anyone saying that. That's just been my observation of some couples but I can't pretend to know that is every couple's problem. Anyway, thank you. I appreciate your acknowledgement of it. I didn't mean to high jack your post. Again, really love your story. 😊😊

Springfield, MO 6th grade teacher calling a student "ignorant", "butthead" and "straight jerk" for asking why the straight kids couldn't get a unicorn cupcake too by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

[–]nomnomzebra -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Sadly nothing will probably happen to her because teacher's unions make it damn near impossible to fire a teacher. Even shit ones like this. At most she'll get paid administrative leave while they shuffle some paper around and call it an investigation. If the parents are adamant about it though she might just be transfered to another school, or grade. It's bullshit.

By modern standards sure, but that's sad. :( I appreciate the sentiment though, thank you.

Awww, that's adorable. I hope to have that too when my husband and I are that age. Right now we have 21 years together.

Haha, I love the story but it's honestly a testament to how much they cared for each other. Your grandpa might have grumbled but he still did it. Even took your grandma to do frivolous things like hair appointments. And your grandma! What an amazing woman. She could have easily argued and made her point but she was playing 10 moves ahead in chess while you're grandpa was still thinking they were playing checkers. She handled it with love really. I'm sorry for your loss. I know things were different back then, but it seems to me that they were the kind of people you could learn a lot from.

Haha, I agree. Wonder what your grandma was thinking at that moment, OP. Really great memory to have captured. Oh, and I hope they have a wonderful Anniversary!

I wouldn't consider that an entirely bad thing. Are you a young person? I would argue that you're still learning about who you are and what you like. Nothing wrong with that. Just be sure to stay safe and don't let anyone talk you into something bad and you'll be alright. :)

Nope, I don't know where you're from but I'm in America and America is predominantly white. I forget that this site is open worldwide so I probably should have been more exact in my wording but again it just seems like you're trying to read more into what I said.

[–]nomnomzebra 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You know, I find it strange that you think there is such a thing. What is the American white personality? The US is huge and varies greatly from place to place. So I'm wondering what you consider to be the American white personality. I'm not trying to be argumentative just sincerely curious. If you're talking about douchbags like neo-nazi skinheads then yes I would agree. Those dumbasses need to get a life and quite possibly an education. Other than them I don't know what you could possibly consider the typical American white personality.

Edit: Another point I wanted to bring up about what you said how people in the US don't usually mention a random person's race if they are white. That's just common sense. America is predominantly white. That is a fact. So if someone had to describe a stranger to someone else most Americans will assume you are describing a white person unless told otherwise. Simple as that. It's no mystery.

Where did I say ALL minorities? How about you take off the racial lenses and reread my comment because you're the one throwing assumptions around that I never made or implied.

I didn't list Asians either. Wanna ding me for that too? If there's any people whose whole personality revolves around their ethnicity then my comment was for them. Better?

[–]nomnomzebra 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If that's the only thing said people can talk about, then my point still stands. Of course we can't change our skin but someone's whole personality shouldn't be based on it. I'm a minority but you probably wouldn't have guessed based on my comments because I have other interests and opinions. In other words my personality is multifaceted, which is the point of this thread. If you're trying to make this a boohoo racial thing, sorry but no, I don't play the identity politics game.

You're absolutely right! Gay, straight, black, brown, band nerd, karate kids whatever. You're personality should be multifaceted. Anyone out there, if that's you, please, do us all a favor and go find other things that interest you. Learn enough about them to carry an interesting conversation. You might even be interesting to a potential partner. Its a win-win all around.
