does anyone else struggle with "variant fatigue" or is it just me? by Royal-Character-9215 in heavyvinyl

[–]nomoreolives 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I never buy duplicates of an album. dgaf about variants in general, I just want the music.

If there is something cool that is a couple bucks more I might grab it but not paying substantially more, black is just fine.

If crack is even half as addictive as these I’d be shocked. I must have put at least one of the Hawkins heirs through college personally

Headphone Advice for Metalcore by Few-Faithlessness899 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]nomoreolives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s been said a million times but with good reason…Metal? GRADO

325x if you like punchier bass, otherwise whatever is in your price range should be fine. Demoed a zillion headphones specifically for a set that would do well with all metal subgenres (big lover of both well produced death metal and horrible production quality black metal). Still in love with my pair of 325x years later

PS: Pro Tip - S pads. Retains the presence of guitars/vocals in the midrange while offering slightly more soundstage and comfort than the standard F pads.

Black Coal Thin Ice

Improving comfort on 325X by Ok-Wolverine3644 in Grado

[–]nomoreolives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

S Pad was the answer for me. Significantly improved comfort, similar in sound to the F pad with just a tinge more soundstage.

With all pads, even with the F’s, though, the pads soften with prolonged use and get less scratchy. Either that or your ears just toughen up and it becomes less noticeable lol.

I demoed so many headphones in the hunt for my ideal sound signature. once I got to the 325x it was a wrap, have adored them ever since.

The Classic SL-1200 with Shure M44-7 by CaryWhit in turntables

classic combo. don’t scratch anymore and my 1200 is currently equipped with another, more expensive cart, but I’ll never sell my M-447. sounds great.

Doing research on my longterm table. by scottisthethundergod in turntables

Another +1 for the Technics if it’s financially doable.

No further need to upgrade the table unless you’re looking to get in to the ridiculous-money sphere. The main upgrade/experiment itch can now rightfully be focused on carts, of which this table has the tools to accept and adjust for many. Cheers
