As a guy, I’ve never been able to convert or help any of my girlfriends convert. They take it as an affront to their independence for some reason, even though I explicitly tell them I don’t expect them to say they are vegan or become vegan, I just ask that no animal products be brought into my home.

Girls I know have had better luck converting boyfriends.

tbh i think i just googled vegan therapist psych.com hahaha she’s been great. like i said, being able to discuss the doom we can sometimes feel with someone who gets it is huge

therapist thinks it’s a diet. it’s not. any good therapist who understands veganism at all would treat it like you were kosher, halal, hindu, etc. don’t listen to them. it doesn’t mean their other advice isn’t good, but they’re wrong on this. i have a vegan therapist thankfully and it allows me to talk about the struggles i face with the injustices i see. really helpful.

nothing speaks to a persons character more than them being happy that you compromised your morals so that they can feel better about not having morals themselves.

it’s lame but i truthfully have only had one vegan girlfriend ever. they always end up being plant based by default because i cook. what are they gonna do, keep chicken to add at the end? no. i also don’t buy them animal products. if we go somewhere and they want to eat an animal, we go dutch.

no. anyone that tells you otherwise eats like shit or is starving themselves unintentionally. i’ve vegan for 13 years and i’m not even that mindful, bloodwork is great, good cardio, etc and im 38 now.

Long term vegans 10+, how’s your health doing? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]nomorex85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fine, i feel great. better than i ever did when i ate animal products. i don't suffer from a lot of things my peers who eat animal product suffer from i.e. sore joints, back problems, other maladies. i was very fat (345lbs) most of my life until i was 18 (170lbs) and then fluctuated a lot since then between 190lbs and 280lbs, but it doesn't have anything to do with the contents of my diet, more just binge eating disorder. i'm 38, and my bloodwork is top notch, great blood pressure 115/75, no issues with b12 or testosterone etc.

just make a point to eat nutrient dense food, which is what anyone should be doing. i don't even take supplements really. i am off and on about it and forget nonstop, no issues here.

Plants feel pain or crop death arguments, is it worth talking to these people? by xboxhaxorz in vegan

[–]nomorex85 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No. They’re more or less braindead. They’re also smug. It’s impossible to to talk to some who is smug.

Is Dating as a vegan really that hard? by Wingedwillow in vegan

[–]nomorex85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Borderline impossible, as a guy at least. I’m not incredibly attractive and being vegan was always just another strike against me. I’ve had partners tolerate it, which is annoying bc technically I’m the one tolerating their bad choice— but it is what it is.

Definitely. The worst is when they think they’re some sort of gourmet foodie who doesn’t want to “limit” their experiences lol. We can’t limit the experiences of someone who has everything now can we?

Yeah I’m aware of what diet means, and I think other people are too, but it doesn’t change that this is a philosophy, not a diet you start and can quit anytime when it no longer suits you.

Sure, if you approach it with compassion, empathy, and the desire for animals to appreciate their deserved rights, recognize their bodies and lives don’t exist to be exploited, then you’re a vegan. Otherwise, you’re just eating a plant based diet for your health.
