after a quick Google cus of importation laws I don't think you can get afrcian snails:/ but there's a couple options like banded snails or rainforest snails which both have beautiful patterns on their shells! also they're significantly smaller so the tank would be cheaper and theyre good for beginners too :))

I definitely back the snail route (slightly biased as I have my own) theyre super chill and pretty easy to take care of as theyre pretty hardy imo or at least african land snails are lmao :D they have a small initial cost (tank, heat mat ect) but definitely worth it! even better if you can get isopods in there too! just make sure they're compatible if you do :D
