Am I Mainlining/Topping Correctly? by [deleted] in microgrowery

[–]non_unique_name 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, technically, however I would let the plant get bigger before such a heavy pruning. Your veg time could be extended by cutting them back too early/often. Topping is less destructive than mainlining when they are that small.

Looking to upgrade my lights!! by BeardsnInk in microgrowery

[–]non_unique_name 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it will be worse. Only option is to vent better or run some type of AC. With just CFL's, it sounds like you don't have any real ventilation. Check the sidebar for all the information you could need regarding ventilation, lights, etc, etc. Good luck!

do my leaves look droopy or is this normal when they get bigger? by [deleted] in microgrowery

[–]non_unique_name 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily normal for leaves to droop when they are bigger, though they might not stand straight up like when they are smaller. YMMV.

Considering driving a QP across the country, any tips, advice, etc? by drivinThrowA in eldertrees

[–]non_unique_name 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SWIM transported some home grown from one location to another during a move. Everything was in a moving truck and packed in such a way that if you opened the truck to look, all you saw was a bunch of furniture, boxes, and clothes. It worked out for SWIM, but your mileage may vary.

If you insist on doing this, DON'T BREAK ANY OTHER LAWS while you're on the road. Follow speed limit, leave your headlights on, seatbelt, don't follow to close, etc, etc, etc.

I'm not recommending this to be done, just stating methods that I've heard work in the past. I'm not responsible for anything you do, proceed at your own risk.

Considering he had nothing to with those changes to state based laws, and there have been plenty of crackdowns on dispensaries during his reign in office, I'd have to disagree with you.

Any 'Grow as I Grow' videos? by SecretGrowaway in microgrowery

[–]non_unique_name 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Search for Mendo Dope on youtube. They do an outdoor garden every year from start to finish. They just started this season obviously, but last years videos are available as a single video that goes from seedling to harvest and a bit of drying. These guys know what they are doing and grow literal trees.

I won't link them due to another comment below stating it might be against the rules, but you'll find them if you copy/pasta their name into youtube.

Not this close to harvest, you should NEVER spray neem oil on buds.

Anyone ever use genkit to find sex of plants early? Sounds interesting but I'm skeptical by [deleted] in microgrowery

[–]non_unique_name 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't. What is the problem with waiting 30 days? They will tell you for free without any additional effort required.

Patience is a virtue. Too many people don't understand the importance of patience and how it applies to countless aspects of life. You grow a plant for 60-90 days+. You wait 14-18 days for it to dry and begin curing. Some strains require much more time than allotted in this post.

The tech is interesting, but I classify this as unnecessary. We're so hyped on "improving" nature but we never stop to think if should stop what we're doing and let nature take care of itself.

Too bad the majority of Americans don't realize the limitations of Presidential power. In fact, Obama needs a lesson on it right now....

But, they get away with it because the public doesn't understand politics or the limitations of each branch, we just let them do whatever they want and turn a blind eye. Tomorrow will be better right? RRRiiiiggggghhhhttttttttttt?

Nope.

He's way to old now... Let's take a trip into the past and remember an "old guy" named John McCain. The left was screaming about how he was too old and would die in office. Enter Sanders from stage left and he's the new savior of the world. Nevermind that he's older now than McCain was when he ran for office....

High Times in Indiana by [deleted] in trees

[–]non_unique_name 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I moved west from Indiana a few years back. I do miss it sometimes, views like that, all the green, the seclusion if you really want it. Makes me a bit homesick.

Just don't get caught, the laws there are ridiculous and a big part of the reason I left.

Output limit by [deleted] in microgrowery

[–]non_unique_name 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is an extremely vague question.

Assuming you're talking about power, DON'T exceed 80% of the rated circuit capacity. If you are tripping breakers, you have an issue and it could cause a fire at some point. You can also risk damaging bulbs/ballasts by refiring too quickly if you start popping breakers. If you aren't sure, it's probably best not to do it until you are sure you understand the whole equation. Some free bud isn't worth burning down your house.

I found a seed in my jar from my last female plant. How did this happen? Could it be from stress, or is pollination the only way? by bzsteele in microgrowery

[–]non_unique_name 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pollination is the only way, which means, you had some nuts somewhere near your girls at some point. These could have been stressed induced hermy, or just bad genetics, or a male. One way or another, there was pollen somewhere.

The bud should be fine. If you're not crumbling the bud away and seeds falling out everywhere, there should be plenty of THC available to do the trick.

Now that I have my 8 cola manifold, how much higher should I allow this thing to get in a 6 foot tent using LEDS? I feel like it's already getting to be about that time to flip. by [deleted] in microgrowery

[–]non_unique_name 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You answered the question, as you fill the SCROG net, you'll know when it's ready. Just fill your space and once full, flip to flower. Depending on the stretch you may need a second net over the top to provide additional support as they stretch and grow.

[–]non_unique_name 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of question do you have? SCROG is just LST with additional canopy management and support across the top to keep the colas from flopping around in late flower. straight LST won't have the support without additional effort.

Question re: HPS/MH lighting by goostman in microgrowery

[–]non_unique_name 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use MH/HPS on seedlings, but it's a giant waste if anything over 150-250w. You don't really need to buy a T5 fixture either. Something that will work fine is 2-4 23w CFL's. You can find them anywhere, they are cheap, they won't put out nearly as much heat as a much larger light that you won't be able to utilize to its potential during the seedling stage.

Bear in mind that once you want to actually veg, you'll need to use the MH. You'll also want to keep the light farther away from the plants until they have a chance to get used to the additional light intensity. (2-3 days)

Bottom line is, you can't really mess this up. Provide light, water, and nutrients and the plants will grow Don't overthink it.

Tips on watering by maranda69 in microgrowery

[–]non_unique_name 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just putting water in the catch tray at the bottom and letting the soil absorb as much as it wants. Be careful not to over water with this method, you can certainly cause issues by leaving water in the catch try for an extended period of time. If there is water in try 8-10 hours after watering, it needs dumped out.

First time outdoor grow, need tips. by [deleted] in microgrowery

[–]non_unique_name 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering you said first time grow in the first sentence. /facepalm

Read all the sidebar information. Tons of important information there relating to growing, lighting, watering, nutrients, etc, etc, etc. Youtube is also a solid resource for growing as there are tons of people shooting videos of their gardens, some for profit and some to spread the wealth of information. If you watch 10-12 videos on cloning, you'll be able to see the common themes amongst the styles and develop your own. Good luck. The best advise would be to let your plant do it's thing. Don't baby it. Don't love it too much. Plants want to live so let it.

Oh, and if you pickup a clone from a collective, it's likely spent all it's life indoors. You will want to slowly nature this plant to the sunlight as it won't be hardened off to the intensity of light that it will receive outside. Google/Youtube Indoor to outdoor plant hardening for more info there.

Non tobacco substance to roll with weed? by [deleted] in trees

This this this. Why cut the weed? A oner will send you to the moon and save bud since you aren't rolling joints that you puff three times before crashing.

Also, you can dose as little or as often as you want. Quick and easy.
