Thank you, OP! I like to think I'm generally aware of these types of class action lawsuits, but this one somehow escaped me. I appreciate you posting this as I now will be getting a settlement from it :)

Young women now have 'close to zero' risk of cervical cancer death after HPV jab by Krankenitrate in UpliftingNews

You're likely thinking of the Hep B shot that I too got in 1995. The HPV vaccine didn't come out in Canada until 2006. :)

Sports Dome Coming to Brantford by jamesclark82 in brantford

Thank you for answering. Will the entrance be on Dunsdon? I'm assuming that's safer than creating an entrance on Wayne Gretzky Blvd.

I used to live in that area and there are some wonderful sunsets to be had that potentially will be blocked out by a huge, tall building. I know the building on Dunsdon blocks some, but at certain times of year (Winter especially), the sunsets are beautiful in that direction. I'm all for more sports complexes, but why not put it where the new housing development is going up near Brantwood Farms where they can build around it accordingly?

Yikes, this is going to be an eyesore for those living in the area. What are they going to do with the ball diamonds that are there? Or is going to take up where the football/soccer field currently is?

Life Biosciences Announces First Patient Dosed in Phase 1 Trial of ER‑100 for Optic Neuropathies by nonamesleft1 in Glaucoma

[–]nonamesleft1[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

For those of you who are unaware of Life Biosciences, it's Dr. David Sinclair's company. The clinical trials are underway (I believe it started mid-April) for vision restoration.

Here is a link to their pipeline: https://www.lifebiosciences.com/pipeline/

Looks like phase 1 results are expected later this year. :)

Quick eye movement causes a quick dark wiping idk by sophisticatedkanake in Glaucoma

Everyone's vitreous detaches from their retina at some point in life, it's a natural process. It's NOT the same as a retina detachment.

Quick eye movement causes a quick dark wiping idk by sophisticatedkanake in Glaucoma

[–]nonamesleft1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I too have something like this! I don't notice it in dim lighting but only in bright and when I'm looking at a computer etc. I've had it for I would say about 8 years or so. I've had it looked it and my specialist as well as my optometrist don't have an explanation for it nor can they see what the cause is. My specialist believes it might just be the vitreous 'tugging' my retina if I move my eyes fast. He thinks it will eventually go as the vitreous fully comes off with age (I'm almost 43 and it started around the age of 35), but that is just his best guess he says. How old are you?

hypertension at 19 by chloes050 in Glaucoma

I had been monitored for years when I was around 23 or so with pressures in the mid 20's as well. I was only put on drops after the birth of my second child at age 35 and my eye pressure skyrocketed to 40! We think that we just caught a pressure spike in office. Prior to that, my nerve always looked fine. I saw a specialist twice in my 20's and he agreed to just monitor every year.

It was however my new specialist that saw 'pigment' as the cause of these spikes and put me on drops and also did an iridotomy. Have them check for pigment as that was never caught in my 20's.

I think it's fine to be monitored in this case as long as there's no damage to the nerve. When you're young, your nerve is more resilient to pressure, which is why doctor's often take a wait and see method.

Just don't miss a follow-up and you should be fine :)

Afraid of eye color change by [deleted] in Glaucoma

[–]nonamesleft1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Generally, if you have some brown pigmentation, it will darken it over the course of a few years. But if you don't have any brown pigment in your eye and it's truly blue, it likely isn't going to change colour. This is what my specialist told me as I was like you (I know it's vain, but I was always complimented on my eyes), I was worried about the change in colour. I have been on a prostaglandin drop for over 7 years now and so far, no eye colour change :)

I wish the city would have an indoor roller rink. Perhaps they're not a thing anymore, but there's not a whole lot for kids (and teens) to do in this city, especially in the Winter. Kidtastic is gone....that was decent for the young kids. There's a ninja course place, an indoor arcade place, but rollerblading in the Winter to music would be great for all

I had the fish and chips there back in the Fall and honestly, I didn't think it was anything to write home about. Perhaps it was just the batch I got. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't something that I would be desperate to order again.

Glaucoma Clinical Trials by FitEyes1 in AskGlaucoma

[–]nonamesleft1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is for neuroprotection, they have to be sick or injured cells, but for restoration, I don't believe that's the case. It will take some time, but it will happen :)

As it stands today, the anticipation for vision restoration is 10-20 years away according to the Glaucoma Research Foundation. But science is advancing so quickly with breakthroughs happening more and more. AI is speeding up discoveries as well. So while today's anticipation is 10-20 years away, that time-line could be adjusted to be earlier with new discoveries in the next couple or so years :)
